Anishinaabe

The names in the following list are some authentic Ojibwe names recorded mostly by Americans speaking French or English. As a result, many are spelled phonetically without regard to the actual words and subsequent meanings they may have when spoken aloud.   As noted, some Ho-Chunk names from he Winnebago tribe of the Sioux are also listed. The Osawkee tribe located in the Free Lands are comprised of a mixture of both ethnicities.
