The Cult of Embers is a small, multisect cult centered around the completion of Okẽpluyxtai - the ancient and forgotten Endbringer god imprisoned in Aanrah's Core. Rare and elusive, the Cult of Embers comes and goes, holing up in rural villages before destroying them and moving onto another one. Most work with the goal that someday, their master will destroy Aanrah as the world knows it, but recently a new branch has appeared seeking something different...

Basics

The Cult

The Cult of Embers is a small cult made up of usually no more than 4 or 5 sects, each with their own Ember Bearer and Sun Censer. They usually harbor under 20 fully-fledged Ember-Hearted members, and perhaps another 30 followers who have not been fully initiated. These sects usually target smaller, rural villages and towns that they can turn into small forts and prisons, locking down that area and all inside. Those who do not choose to follow the Cult become "Sheep" - individuals who will be harvested for their life energy for prolonged periods of time, who are almost always under a series of spells to keep them docile and complacent. The Cult rarely settles in one area too long, and will sacrifice all remaining Sheep and raze their forts to the ground before moving on. They are known to jump ship if they feel they are going to encounter serious conflict as well.

Goals & Beliefs

The Cult of Embers acts under the idea that Okẽpluyxtai, the ancient failed sun of Aanrah, can be completed. By feeding it the souls and energy of others, the Cult aims to give Okẽpluyxtai the push it needs to finally transform itself into a proper sun - and, in that glorious moment, the ability to destroy Aanrah and birth it anew. Some sects have their own more minor goals - something that usually changes between Ember Bearers or at random, depending on the current state and desires of Okẽpluyxtai.
