Dernth Kelthshaw

Headmaster Dernth Ulmeth Kelthshaw (a.k.a. Dern)

Dernth Kelthshaw was an Ecleinian thinker, engineer, chemist, educator, botanist, physicist, mathematician, and astronomer. He was the founder of Kelthshaw Academy, and served as its first headmaster. He was also a major figure in the unification of Ecleinia and the Second Dark War. He was the best friend and constant companion to Kori Tigenderth, and the husband of the artist Apollonius Hybernia. He was also a noted scientist and engineer, who (amid many achievements) designed the Ecleinian coinage system, theorized about paper money, designed the Ecleinian road system, theorized about electricity, and designed a crude form of the solar panel.

Personal history

Dernth Kelthshaw was born to a family of semi-wealthy merchants in Therinsburg in 25 BU. He was schooled in various disciplines, and had a mind for science and engineering. He graduated from the University of Therinsburg in 7 BU with degrees in engineering and chemistry, although his talents extended far beyond those two.
Growing up, he and Kori Tigenderth were best friends, and continued to be even after they both reached adulthood. Tigendeth had completed training as a soldier at the War Academy of Therinsburg, where he also was trained in strategy and military engineering. The two lived together for some time- Kelthshaw did research at the University of Therinsburg, and Tigenderth did military service. Kelthshaw eventually moved into his own lab, where he sold a wide variety of goods to fund his research, including plants, explosives, and chemicals.
In 5 BU, Kelthshaw, with the help of Tigenderth, began compiling evidence pointing to the return of the Dark One. After the War of the Wheat, in 4 BU, the duo presented this evidence to the Therinsburg Assembly, who agreed that action must be taken. The two left for Caworn, where they spent a few years building up a system of alliances with the help of the queen of Caworn, Lilac Sowager.
During the Second Dark War, Kelthshaw aided in the war effort by constructing war machines, explosives, and other equipment for the various armies. He helped Tigenderth standardize the various armies, and was present at several major battles.

Sexuality

Kelthshaw was openly gay and married another man, Apollonius Hybernia.
