Beloved by his people, Coltane is the heir to the late King Jacoby Wildpride. When he was 19, his father was assassinated, and he was the main suspect due to his outspoken criticism of the King. Dedicated to bringing back the glory of his grandfather's empire, Coltane had resented his father for being, as he would put it, "a spineless puppet who is more worried about the stitching on his coat than his own people."
Backed by his stepmother, the Queen Regent the court sought to have him thrown in the dungeon and ultimately executed for his crimes. The only thing that saved him from certain doom was the confession of Pollic, a notorious smuggler and arms dealer, exonerating Coltane of the charges and placing him back on the throne.
Now, with his Court in check and his mother suitably abashed, Coltane has turned his eye to the growing conflict in the southeast.
