Uther Wildpride

Uther Wildpride was the general of the Curanthian army and Second Hand to King Reginald Embergrain during the Mordian/Falksif Rebellion. Despite his numerous plans and ideas on how to crush the rebellion, his king ordered a full retreat claiming "I will not waste more lives on your fool's errands." Uther was furious yet did as he was commanded.

Through negotiations with the leaders of the rebellion, the king continuously ignored his counsel for harsher diplomacy. Instead, the king gave land and resources to the rebels in exchange for peace. Uther argued for days with the king over his concessions. "That land was not yours to give! I know families that have lived there for generations. That land was the only inheritance they had to give to their children." To which he would be met with "I am the king. All land within my borders is mine to do with as I please." Finally, enough was enough. Uther gave the order for the Curanthian Army to march. The King received word and immediately sent a runner to tell the army to stop, but they did not listen. Uther led the army into Falksi and caught the rebels unaware.

Uther led campaign after campaign against the rebels who had grown lazy in the absence of war. He restored many families to their homelands, and, when the war was won, he marched back to the capital triumphantly. When he arrived, he found the gates closed and the King's Guard atop the walls. The king sent word that Uther and his traitorous army were not welcome back in his city. Uther's reply was one sentence, "It is you, Reginald, who is not welcome in my city." To Reginald's horror, at Uther's command, the gate guard raised the portcullis for Uther and his army. The king and his guard fell back to the keep where Uther's army laid siege. After a mere 24 hours, Uther sent a messenger to the Keep advising the King's Guard that if they were to surrender Reginald to him, they would be spared. In less than half an hour, Reginald was tossed onto the front steps, gagged and bound hand and foot. Uther cut his bonds and exiled him from the country with a promise to execute him if he ever showed his face within his borders.
