The bombastic world traveller Volothamp Geddarm is enjoying some downtime in Waterdeep following a successful book tour promoting his latest work, Volo's Guide to Monsters. He spends most of his free time in the taproom of the Yawning Portal, reuniting with old friends and mulling over his next book project.
Volo has an inflated opinion of himself and his importance in the world, but he's not without his charm. There is nothing he won't do to help a friend in need.

We accepted a quest from Volo to ascertain the whereabouts of his friend Floon Blagmaar.
Volo described Floon as a handsome human male in his early thirties with wavy red-blond hair. He was dressed in princely garb when Volo last saw him. Two nights ago, before Floon disappeared, he and Volo were drinking and merrymaking at the Skewered Dragon, a dark, bawdy tavern in the Dock Ward. Volo recommends that we start our search there.
He paid us 10gp each just for accepting the quest and promises 10 times that amount if we return Floon alive.
We were able to find Floon and deliver him to Volo.
Instead of a promised payment Volo persuade us to take an old Inn in a Trollsull Alley.
We settled up ownership by signing official papers at the local Magistrate by tiefling magistrate named Kylynne Silmerhelve.
The brief session took place at a courthouse in the Castle Ward at high sun. Magistrate Silmerhelve witnessed the transfer of the deed, rendering the new ownership official, with the impatience of one who has more important matters to attend to. She also collected an estate transfer tax of 25gp, which is normally paid by the new owners.

Volo for short was a legendary traveller and storyteller and was most famous for his guidebook published by Tym Waterdeep Limited.
