Larealra Thundreth (a.k.a. The Captain)

Laraelra Thundreth, affectionately referred to as The Captain, is a half-elf woman who runs the Low Lantern Tavern & Inn. Although it is a spot for some rowdy and unsavory clientele, The Captain usually never fears or interferes with the personal lives of her clients. Even when they get, rowdy. This is likely due to the fact that although a mere tavern owner, it is known that The Captain was once an adventurer and is revered as quite a powerful mage. Nothing against the high arch wizards of Candlekeep but she is not to be trifled with.

Although the specifics are unkown, the general consensus is that Laraelra spent a good portion of her younger years as an adventurer. After many years travelling she returned to Baldur's Gate and used some of her acquired wealth to purchase what is now the Low Lantern.
