The Emerald Door

On the far side of the courtyard from the gates, set into the western wall, lies the Emerald Door, its green hues glowing with a subtle, cloudy radiance from within. The Keeper of the Emerald Door, typically a senior member of the Avowed, stands here at all times, officially welcoming new seekers during the day and arranging their accommodations through the use of runner monks. A seeker can only pass through the inner wards and truly access the Great Library by going through the Emerald Door. Thus, the duty of Keeper of the Emerald Door is critical to the integrity of Candlekeep, and the Keeper never leaves their post.
