Latheril's Carver

"Ah, mere noble of Lydgartha, you have made yourself a... noteworthy insect, in my ascension. Your mark may not be forgotten,"

- Latheril, to Nobleman Vass, before killing him.
Lydgartha is known for it's awful horrors, but nothing comes in comparison to the collection of foul demons that plague the land. Many fiends call this region as a second home away from the Abyss. They can be found tucked away, within the cracks of the ground, the empty thrones of a forgotten castle, but one stands in the centre of attention, a wolf in sheep's clothing. Latheril, in his time hidden away from the public eye had decided to undergo the process of anonymity and had undertaken the pseudonym Thae Llir. He had manipulated the religion to focus on the dark arts, disguised as other forms of magic. Latheril however, would be caught out on his deceit in due time by many of the acolytes of the Polnite Church, and be banished from Aitso completely. There is however, a single way to bring the Twisted Wolf back from exile in the Abyss. Using his Carver, a dagger he made himself out of the metal once used as a holy symbol for the Polnite church, any follower of Latheril could fill the hollow core of the blade with blood. Once it is full, a compartment can lock the blade's handle in place. With the sacrifice of all of those related to the blood's origin within the blade into souls for Latheril, he can push himself back into the waking world of the living.
Latheril had made the blade within a space of thirteen hours, and so the weapon takes thirteen millilitres of blood to be filled properly. Within his ruling status as Thae Llir, Latheril would be able to kill most of the other holy members in the elite circles of the organisation. These members were mostly upcoming pontiffs, or those who was suspicious of the Demon Lord's sudden appearance. There was but one nobleman, a bishop, upon those councils and sects that had fully embraced the Deceptive One's presence. Nobleman Vass. Years later, it was also him that used the Carver to bring back Latheril from the Abyss, resulting in his soul being forfeit, due to the pact of the blade with the Lord. Vass was the first noble family in Lydgartha to be wiped out in an instant, and probably will be the last for a long, long time. Although Latheril has not assumed the role he once had, out of arrogance and vengefulness to the acolytes that had stopped him, he is now a lord amongst all those considered undesirable. A hidden fact to the weapon that Latheril himself discovered only a few months ago, was that the effects of the blade, able to bring him back from the Infinite Layers of the Abyss, was able to be stacked. Since this revealation, Latheril has slain dozens of those considered unwanted by the Lydgarthan goverment. It'd take approximately fifty-seven banishments to bring Latheril back to the Abyss.

History

Latheril has been the consistent owner, ultimately. The shadowy remnants of such a weapon as convinced many into thinking that they are the true owner of the weapon, but Latheril has always been the one manipulating those into his own bidding.

Significance

Ixik Gray, an investigator, has used it for his diabolist schemes against other demons. Latheril is happy with this arrangement, he knows one day he'll break free of Gray's bindings.

Latheril's blade is the only one forged to act in it's way. Although, many other demons have tried, and failed, to replicate it. This often had these fiends banish themselves to the Abyss. It is truly, one of a kind. The ability to stack the escapes of banishments has increased this blade's price and desire. If a demon lord got a hold of such a weapon, they can change it's property from being Latheril's Carver, and instead whomever wields the weapon now.
