More than two millenia ago, the Aeternus brought the magical realms to Abinor and humanity. The bitter struggle between human faiths and development and the Magicka used by these mysterious new species led to unending and constant warfare. But with a lot of time and a lot of blood, humans were the clear losers. Outnumbered and outgunned, they chose to surrender, and a fragile peace was drawn up between humanity and the outer beings. Collectively, these sapient classes of beings became known as something new: Metahumanity.   Years passed. With the combined powers of metahumanity, new magical technology was developed that changed anything. Biotechnology, worldwide communication, space travel, and megacities all became not just dreams, but possibilities. They built underground cities to protect themselves from an apocalypse, and with the discovery of Arcane Diffusion, solved the nearly cataclysmic energy crisis.   But tensions broke. Communication between nations broke down and faiths split apart as the gods began to feud with one another. They took up arms, and took up bombs, and erased their progress, scorching the world they spent so long developing together. The First Occult War, as it would be called, claimed billions of lives before it was over. 75% of the worlds population is wiped from existence, and what remains retreated to the underground Citadels. There were no winners, and by 1869, the war ended in a stalemate.   Centuries later, just as the surface began becoming habitable once again, a sudden and completely unprepared for demonic invasion hit every realm in the multiverse, causing permanent destruction and damage all across the realities. The armies of Zalgo began their conquest to end the world. But metahumanity fought back, and with nearly every being in existence on their side, Zalgo's army was, eventually, defeated for good. Zalgo was sealed away by Aathma, never to be released.   It is now 250 years later. Metahumanity has returned to the surface, spread across Abinor once again, slowly rebuilding their great empires from the ashes. The colossal Metroplexes and smaller cities act as bastions of safety dotted throughout the dangerous and cryptid-infested Wasteland. A massive, unidentified black satellite has appeared in the sky, and scientists struggle to discover what it means. With tensions rising between angels and devils, Cthulhu having been released from his prison, and the vampiric council having dissolved when it's leader was assassinated, tensions and stress are high as everyone prepares for a third war. The only question now is when it's coming, and how.
