Bane of the Nightwalker
Mechanics & Inner Workings
This poison, when it makes its way into a vampire's bloodstream either by drinking or wounding, it makes a constitution saving throw of 18 at disadvantage that cannot be overcome by legendary resistance or become affected by the poison. The vampire can remake the saving throw on each of its turns. If drank by any other humanoid with blood the poison lingers in their bloodstream for 1d4 hours. The effect of the poison is as follows:
Lethargy of the Dead. The vampire has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.
Sanguine Barrier. The vampire's regeneration is halved for 1 minute. Additionally, when the vampire uses its bite attack, it only heals for half of the necrotic damage dealt.
Manufacturing process
With recipe, requires a DC 18 arcana check to make. Any arrangement of the three ingredients creates a weaker version that reduces the con save by 2 for each degree of ingredient discrepancy but gives the creator an indication that a recipe can be discovered with different quantities of ingredients. Failure to prepare the potion correctly has a 50% chance to result in a weaker version that only offers one of the effects at a saving throw that decreases by 1 for every point you failed by and a 50% chance of creating a faulty poison that, when consumed by a vampire, on a DC 18 constitution saving throw causes the vampire to expel the poison and liquid it was in, failing to gain any benefit from their drink.
