Edjudence Assassin's Guild

Structure

The guild is ran by one Hand and two Blades. The Hand oversees the operation across the city, manages diplomatic relations and takes priority on any contracts they find interesting or high profile enough. Each Blade is responsible for organising and overseeing the guild in half of the city and advising the Hand on guild matters. The Blades do not get to choose their own contracts, if they are put on one it will be a high profile one decided by the Hand. The two Blades share jurisdiction and act together as the Point of the temple district. Underneath each Blade is their 3 Points who oversee operations in a single district each. This involves keeping an ear out for work, distributing the work to their subordinates and choosing the best for the job. Again, the Points do not get to choose their own contracts, if they are put on one it will be a high profile one decided by the Hand and their Blades.

Culture

The unofficial motto of the group is 'you can flounder, or you can flourish'. They encourage their members to find joy in what they can. They believe the job can make you or break you since it is so harsh and demanding and that if you can't find peace in it then it is not the life for you. They think any assassin worth their salt must find some way to offset the difficult morality of their job by loving themselves enough and finding pleasure where they can or else they are sure not to last long, either to die, get caught or run away from their life in shame.

Public Agenda

Each member of the guild has a license granted by the Department of Licensing for operation within Ascium since the group is currently sanctioned by the Crown. Currently every contract they take on is first approved by the Crown, personally and they are often used as a tool for them to further their own agenda. They are still contracted by those who can afford their services but it is only allowed to go through if the Crown allows it and if it meddles with their own plans the contract will often be turned around on the one who set it, usually via Cutthroat and not the guild, much to their chagrin.

Assets

There are nine well known active members that work in a signature style recognised across Ascium and are usually requested specifically by clients. They are:
  • The Hunter
  • The Puzzle
  • The Roulette
  • The Missing
  • The Irregularity
  • The Succubus
  • The Last Breath
  • The Painter
  • The Toxin

History

Early in the increasing measures against magic the Crown bought off the Guild to further their own needs. As the measures increased the guild did turn in many of their members that use overtly magical means. Others, like their changeling Blade, they fought for claiming it biological and essential to the organisation that they maintain such assets. It is now an unspoken rule within the guild that anyone with magical proclivities keep it to themselves else they also be turned in by their own.   The guild has an uneasy tension with the Crown's personal assassin and guard, Cutthroat. They are aware that the Crown could bypass the guild at any point despite the fact that Cutthroat is often reserved for very discreet and personal matters.
