Personal history
Joelyn was an adventurer for most of her life. She was fascinated in her childhood by the varied creatures of the world and very quickly set out to experience them first hand as soon as she'd completed enough schooling to appease her family.
She accumulated quite some reputation across Ascium on her adventures, being seen as a hero by some. She settled in the city after a bitter rivalry that she could not overcome between herself and a bronze dragon, Mendis , who she only discovered was actually a dragon by accident during one of their last encounters. He would often swoop in and 'save' her from the monster she was fighting and studying which lead to her eventually settling down in the city to pass her information on to others once she could no longer afford her failed expeditions. She has written some books and works as the advisor on monsterous matters at the Edjudence Adventurer's Guild.
Her brother, Desmond Florence, moved to join her in the city and now works as a doctor in the city.
She often minds Maxim Caarst's children in the little library office at work so that they are being less of a menace to the adventurers.
She has a disease, Lady's Decay, that she's hiding from everyone around her. She contracted it when she crossed some Scent followers in her career but it is starting to catch up to her. She wants to find some way to fix it before her brother finds out.
