Coronation Letter

The Coronation Letter is a letter supposedly written by the Martyr King Kovacs Rot to his sister Nobares shortly before his coronation. The letter discusses Kovacs's plans for his coronation, including apparently plans for his assassination through poisoned wine.    The letter was found by Imperial Scholar Godar Minx in 54 BV while going through the records at the Grand Shrine. His report of the letter's existence, published 2 years later in 52 BV, was met with sharp criticism from other Imperial Scholars, and the public was equally skeptical of the letter's contents. There is currently a debate about the letter's authenticity among Imperial Scholars.
Reactions from the Imperial Family, the Imperial Shrine Maiden, and the Regent are unknown, though the distinct lack of response from the Shrine Maiden can be seen as indicitive of her implicent consent. Public opinion of the traitor Nobares Rot changed little following the letter's publication.

Purpose

The Coronation Letter was apparently written by Kovacs Rot to detail his plans for his upcoming coronation. With Nobares being a close confidant, it is understandable for him to want her to know the intimate details of the ceremony, but most shockingly of all is the apparent plan he had created for his own assassination during said ceremony.

Background

The constant warring of the Freestater clans in the area that would eventually form the Ivory Empire led to a state of decay amongst the Freestaters. For the most part, there was a sense that the clans were marching towards a violent end, but there seemed to be no potential alternative to that fate.    Kovacs Rot changed that in 3144 BV. Appearing out of apparently nowhere, the man drew the Ashen Blade from its pedestal in Catal Hisarlik. He united the residents of the city into an army and united the other clans in a matter of only 2 years. The citizens of Catal Hisarlik declared him king and then later emperor, but he refused to be coronated until the clans had been united.   In 3142 BV, the Ivory Empire had been established, with the last of the clans forcibly pacified. Kovacs's coronation was planned for, but during the ceremony, Kovacs was assassinated through the use of poisoned wine. His sister Nobares was found to be the culprit, but she committed suicide before she could be tried.
