Glossary

This is a list of terms used in the Abyssal House.

• Essence - the innate information of an organism. Slight shifts occur throughout the organism's life, but overall, resistant to outside influences. Essence circulates through the body by following blood vessels and nerves.
• Ether - the innate information of an inorganic material or level of the House. More resistant to change than Essence. The Ether of a House level circulates like a current and can be traced using Phosphos. Negative effects can occur when Ether stops circulating. Plants grow more quickly in areas with somewhat elevated Ether levels, but areas with too high Ether levels can cause illness or death.
• Houseborn - a person born within the House, as opposed to coming from outside the House.
• Main Level - the largest level of the House and the level where most of the residents reside.
• Sublevel - locations away from the main level of the House. These areas are connected to the main level of the House but are distinct locations that may operate under slightly different laws.
