Ragnarök
Ragnarök is an event that occurred at the end of the Age of Ancients. Almost all of the residents of the House died out, with only the Fae surviving through the use of an ark, but the physical environments of the House were left largely unaffected.
Ragnarök appears several times throughout late Ancient inscriptions, but no records exist of the exact events of Ragnarök. It is believed that Ragnarök ended approximately 4620 years before the start of the Imperial Age, and led into the Dark Ages.
Several Imperial Scholars have posited that Ragnarök is a widespread pruning event. Although the House's Ether was unaffected, Essence appears to have ceased existing within the House for several decades following Ragnarök as corpses have not been found in the strata dated to that time.
Ragnarök is also associated with the emergence of beings known as Vanguards. These Vanguards are noted to be calamities that brought chaos to the House and its residents. There were 4 Vanguards associated with Ragnarök, though how they were defeated was not recorded.
Manifestation
Ragnarök was heralded by a widespread stagnation of Ether within the House, a fact recorded by numerous Ancient sources. This stagnation caused severe disruptions in Ancient and Fae societies.
The advent of Ragnarök was further fueled by the emergence of beings known only as Vanguards. The Vanguards were regarded as calamities that threatened to destroy the House and its residents.
