Docada Arena
The arena is for gladiatorial combat and to watch the fights. The seating is lower to the arena. The arena itself is caged so no one can escape the arena. The only entrances are gates that lead into the arena.
Under the arena is the living quarters for the gladiators, most of whom are not willing fighters. There are ramps that lead to the underground of the arena. That way the arena master can get to the fighters. These entrances are closed off by heavy doors.
Purpose / Function
The arena is used for gladiatorial combat as well as for the King's Proving.
Alterations
When the arena was first built it did not have a cage over the arena part. The cage was added much later. In fact, it was added after the first King's Proving. It was added to make sure that the king stayed and fought for the Proving.
History
The arena was built with the city. It was used for provings among young fighters who were coming of age. Its only use back then was to train new warriors and make them prove themselves to king and country. This insured that the kingdom would be protected forevermore. At this time there was no cage above the arena to prevent people from escaping.
After the first King's Proving the cage was added to make sure that future kings would not flee from the proving. At this time a new barracks was built to train new warriors for the kingdom. The Docada Arena started to be used for gladiatorial combat after the first proving as well.
