The Hole in the Hills
After passing on the displacer beasts and the "big scary door," The Party selected a sketch of a simple-looking cave from the Operations raid board in Crossbones.
Taking the southwest exit out of camp and heading to the base of the hills upon which the camp was built, the party then turned northward. Without any trouble, they located the cave mouth and entered, finding a single bear (which they swiftly defeated). They noticed a faint purple glow along one of the walls, which was apparently a message of some kind. None of the party knew the language in which it was written, but Johann used Comprehend Languages to translate for them.
The text turned out to be an excerpt of a conversation, and it read:
They killed the bear. Now what?
Upon exiting this place, The Party found themselves in a very different part of the forest from where they entered, after walking backwards down a tunnel that initially seemed infinitely long. Grihymm Phrahdrandon found himself strangely with no memory of the place or events that took place within.
The Party would later make the acquaintance of the quickling Twig, who claimed the bear to be his. He also declared that the party owed him for its death and that he wanted them to wait with him near his treehouse until nightfall. Instead, they elected to lead him and his goblin compatriots back to Crossbones. This choice would have immediate and long-term repercussions for everyone involved.
