The Ortheian Kingdom is the oldest kingdom still standing on Acate.

History

Founding in the First Age

Once the dust had settled and people had figured out that the world around them had permenantly changed, they tried their best to stick together. The area they had chosen to rest in was covered in magical fallout, and changed these peoples into becoming what people of the current age would call Elves.

A prominent patriarch and politician named Nolan Orlei essentially named his family descended from the gods, who had revealed themselves to him. He helped spread the idea of the five Major Deities, and started to build up a proper settlement with his family and charisma.

Advancements in the Second Age

The kingdom, while faced with hardships at first, flourished thanks to the elves' innate use of magic. They were able to do work longer than humans, locate animals for hunting and domestication better than humans, and forge weapons better than humans. They found it easy to flourish, and started using currency in the Second Age.

Disasters in the Third Age

While the kingdom grew in size, deaths began to happen amongst the nobility, and soon enough, a city nearby the capital was decimated with an incredibly tough plague. Afraid that they had angered the gods, they began to turn to religion even more than before.

Political Structure

The Ortheian Kingdom has always had a king who has ruled over the land. Until the Third Era, they all ruled as absolute monarchs. However, when the Era turned over, the people demanded it was time they had a say, and forced the king's hand into becoming a constitutional monarchy.

The King, his queens, and his heirs and other close family members remain at the top, while further family members or exonerated noble houses are just below them. The people elect three officials every five years to decide upon any changes to the constitution.
