Zombie Fever

Zombie fever is a disease caused by extreme hunger. It is a pretty nasty disease; with a five-year pandemic that saw the verge of this disease. Fortunately, a team of scientists discovered a cure and vaccine in an underground bunker five years later, curing some people but killing many. But hey, the human population lived on.

Transmission & Vectors

The disease mainly spreads when an infected zombie bites a healthy person or if a healthy person touches the blood of a zombified person. The disease might look like it spreads very slowly, but on the contrary, it's very mobile. Sometimes a zombie's blood can be so powerful a person LOOKING at it can get a serious fever which can eat up their immune system. The disease is infectious the second a person gets it; it eats up all kind of emotion from inside and injects a green pigment into the blood, making the person look brown. This happens when the red blood mixes with the green infectious pigment to turn brown.

Causes

The condition is caused when anyone suffers from extreme hunger or if a zombified person bites a healthy one. In the former cause, a person begins to slowly turn mad from no food in his mouth. If he is left unattended for enough time he will turn into a mad zombie and kill everyone. But unlike the signature brown skin of the zombies, the zombies who become so from hunger are usually green.

Symptoms

The symptoms of Zombie Fever include:
  • Green/Brown skin
  • Bulged-out eyes
  • Bad breath
  • Madness
  • Annoyance to eat anything
If any of these symptoms are spotted in you or someone you know, take them to the hospital immediately.

Treatment

The treatment for this disease is relatively simple. Only it is very difficult and nasty for the patient. The patient must be injected with human blood of his type every day in the hospital for a month. He/she must also smoke on a bunch of special leaves that are grown exclusively in Steam Gardens , the capital of the Garfaxin Kingdom. The leaves taste especially gross when smoked, but it's worth it if it cures the patient.

Prevention

A likely prevention measure would be to not stay in hunger-infested areas or be hungry for a long time yourself. Or else, you know what would happen.

Epidemiology

Some main starting points include places where there is a lack of food. Looking at this, the people in the Desert Kingdom are likely to start an epidemic since they don't have much food lying around in their houses. The heat also acts as a speed potion, since the effect of hunger below scorching heat speeds up the process. A pandemic did occur during the Decade of the Famines, from 998 to 1003, since a lot of people were dying of hunger back then. The extreme hunger mutated to form the disease we now call Zombie Fever.

History

The Zombie Fever was first seen as a short-term disease that wasn't in such a stage that it would cause a pandemic, so people decided to ignore it. But that was possibly the greatest mistake they could have ever done. The disease spread fast throughout the Desert Kingdom. In a year, almost the whole kingdom was affected, so they lost a lot of good people to the disease. It soon spread to the other kingdoms very quickly. But that was only the very first wave. The second wave hit after a couple of months of rest. It was only worse this time; the disease now mutated to give the zombies killing ablities on sight. Soon a lot of members in the MechaGods Kingdom started killing each other under the influence of the disease. The healthy fled to Banswick for the protection of the Council Of Elders and Supreme Yue, the first lady Supreme on Acciphere. They hid inside the Palace of Prosperity until the scientists invented killing machines and the cure: Yue. (The hybrid plant was named after the queen in remembrance.) They smoked it using a lighter and shot them into each zombie's mouths, curing them. As more people got cured, more took on the job of cleaning up. More and more versions of the plant were created as well, so they could do it themselves, but they weren't as successful as the original. As such, the scientists were awarded a lot of money for their world-saving hybrid plant.
