Metoro

Before he was lost, Metoro was the God of Thought, with Varian he helped to discern the nature of reality and the identities of the other gods. Metoro was always contemplative, spending more time thinking and raising philosophical questions and was never as interested in creating as the other Gods. It is assumed that through this thinking he discovered the truth of reality which lies beyond the Cosmic Sea, the place where Metoro now resides, but this place, sometimes called ‘The Far Realm’, seems to have twisted Metoro’s mind and from this place the Aberrations came, assumed to be Metoro’s creations, acting out his will, but none know for sure.   Followers. Only people at the fringes are devoted to Metoro, his worshipers are limited to insane cultists, but even they know it is pointless to pray to him. Sailors sometimes tell tales of Metoro and his creatures which often stalk the ocean depths, he is a subject of horror stories and on occasion, people beg Metoro for mercy as they are devoured by monsters.   Priesthood. Only the Seafolk have temples to Metoro, but it is out of fear, rather than devotion that these are constructed. Rarely does anyone choose to become a priest, but Metoro seems to choose the mad and insane, often blessing them with powers, these priests are almost always warlocks. None, not even Metoro’s priests themselves assume to understand Metoro’s will or desires for the world, those who try are driven further into madness, there are no symbols, colours or Materials sacred to Metoro, but sometimes tentacles are used to represent him, as they appear upon many of his servants.   Dogma. Metoro lives! spread the news. Metoro’s will is unknowable, only the insane can comprehend it. Do not shun or cure the insane, they have lost their minds only because they have seen the will of Metoro.
