Shikasha, the Scaled Traveler

A Lonely Scout Form a Faraway Land

You, returned, one piece, not many piece, yes? Shikasha, waited, three moon above when, yes. See, you one piece, yes, very happy how, yes. You, sit down, near Shikasha fire, yes?
— Shikasha, talking to a fellow traveler friend

The many paths of the Meridian plane can oftentimes be dangerous for lonely travelers. From beasts living in the wilderness, to monsters preying on the unknowledgeable - to let your guard down while on the road is to spell disaster for yourself. There is, however, no greater pleasure for an adventurer than spending the night under the starry sky, enjoying the company of their travel-loving kin in front of a small crackling bonfire. People who venture into the world become wise as they encounter what the realm has to offer, as they explore what was previously unknown, charting their way through life one step at a time. Sometimes, though, your travel companion might float in the uncanny space between friendly warmness and disturbing queerness; their eyes, holding a lifetime of secretes behind, or perhaps their shadow, moving begrudgingly in the night, held down by untold crimes...

Shikasha, however, inspires fear into his fellow travelers for more obvious reasons. Standing at double the height of a regular human, Shikasha, the traveler is a reptilian being that walks the roads of the Meridian alone, forced by Fate to embrace this hostile and unknown realm until he can find his way back on Kahrishi, his home plane. He can be considered old, even by the standards of his species; the decades he had spent exploring the Meridian countries and wilderness left many marks on his scales, yet his eyes remain intelligent, vigilent and warm. Besides his height, Shikasha is also very muscular. He is capable of besting many dangerous animals in one-on-one brawls, using only his tail and fists. Many are terrified by his half-beast appearance; those who look past the shell will uncover a gentle soul who loves to share stories of his home realm and of his adventures.

Har-har-har-har! Mikri, tell, amuzing stories, yes-yes! Shikasha, listen, more stories, yes! Mikri, curious how, Shikasha adventures, yes? Shkrishii! Shikasha, speak, more adventures, after Mikri when, yes.
— Shikasha, sharing stories with Mikri

Shikasha has always been a lover of the outdoors, even back on his home realm. It was during one of his many expeditions when he found a crack in reality, a black cut floating in the air in front of his eyes, as if a monster ripped the space apart with its claws. Guided by the travelguide staff he had made by himself out of wood and different metals, the reptilian probed the portal, then jumped inside out of curiosity. The portal closed behind his back, leaving him stranded on Meridian. More than forty years later, he is still looking for a way home, using his trusty cane to look for dimensional turbulences. He had gathered many other tools in this time, learning the glyph system used by Meridian mages to replace the spells he once knew to perform (which, for unknown reasons, did not work anymore). Shikasha is always open to learn more from his travel companions and is happy to protect those who are weak or ask for his help. He lives a nomadic lifestyle, far from settlements, because he knows from experience how intimidating his presence can be; the only exceptions are dwavern settlements, for he has always been welcomed among the dwarves. Deep down, he wishes to settle down in one place one day, but as long as he feels there are places left for him to explore, he cannot - and will not - let go of his wanderlust.
