The Matriarch
Mother of the Night
Queen Calysa Kyria (a.k.a. The Matriarch)
"Don't worry, sweetie. You'll feel all~ better soon. Just stick out your neck for me, will you?"
The Matriarch, Queen of Vampires, is the first true vampire, being at this time the only vampire born from direct injection of the Zenhis Sengua mutagen. Before her transformation, she was a regular student of Exarhi University, studying medicine under Elder Ohari himself. This direct connection would lead her to become a volunteer host for his perfected mutagen, unknowingly becoming the head of a large future bloodline of vampires that would survive for centuries.
The Matriarch rarely reveals herself in public; when she does, she conceals her vampiric aspects and tries to seduce one or two people that she deems either capable enough to become her "children", influential enough to be worth the effort of making them her puppets, or cute enough to become her newest thralls. She would rather distance herself from the world, allowing her loyal children and puppets to do her bidding; because of this, she rarely leaves her manor, leading to her existence becoming almost mythical.
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Calysa Kyria is a tall woman with pale skin and fangs, the casual signs of Zenhis Sengua. She has, however, a piercing red gaze, said to be faintly glowing in the dark. Other than that, she resembles a woman of noble status, without other unusual discernible traits.
Special abilities
Innate power: Puppetmaster. Her innate spell is a mind control hex that requires physical contact, as well as time for the target to accept Calysa as their Master. Targets that are attracted to her and targets that already accept her as their superior (in any shape or form) will succumb to the hex instantly. Once a hex becomes active, it engraves itself into the target's magical array, becoming a permanent part of them and being almost impossible to remove safely.
The Matriarch is also capable of seduction and light hypnosis using her gaze and silken voice, lulling her targets into sleep simply by talking to them for long enough. She uses her knowledge of Anatomy to Psychology to assure the victim's fall into her clutches. Those who have encountered her and somehow survived have said that her presence doesn't leave their bodies and minds, with concerned family members describing how they sometimes leave their homes and wander around in search for her.
Mental characteristics
Education
She was one of the most accomplished students of her year when she was enrolled at EUMMR. She studied in the Department of Natural Research, focusing her attention on Anatomy and Zoology. Ever since her school days, she has been a passionate reader, with a thirst for knowledge only matched by her vampiric thirst for blood. Calysa has a passion for psychology as well, using her rare escapades to search for books that talk about the inner workings of the mind.
Morality & Philosophy
As a vampire, she considers her spawn as her literal children and acts according to her personal wish to ensure their safety. In her eyes, all her puppets, thralls, toys and servants belong to her, and she takes great care of her "possesions". Thus, one of her core motivations is preservation of both her bloodline and her property while extending her web of influence farther and farther, looking to become an eternal Queen of the realm bit by bit.
She considers the act of corrupting the innocent completely justifiable and, sometimes, she can go to great lenghts to catch her prey in her web. In her eyes, everything must belong to her, and everything that belongs to her is precious; everything that threatens her or her property must be subdued or eliminated. She dislikes tyrannical figures and takes pleasure in "liberating" opressed subjects, offering them a better life as her eternal servants.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
As previously said, one important motivation for the Matriarch is her desire to bring the Meridian under her thumb, using her immortality to the fullest, taking pleasure in scheming and placing her thralls and puppets into place so that they may reach positions of power in the future. She sees herself as an elevated being, deserving of ruling the world through her powers and her connections. At the same time, she cares geniunely for her children and her closer assets, taking at least the bare minium of care to make sure everything is all right.
She loves playing a motherly role with her victims, taking care of them as they turn into vampires, inscribing their souls with the idea of a familial bond. Her warm attitude towards her kin has spread by word of mouth, so far that all vampires know at least about the existence of a family head overseeing their moves, calling her "Mother of the Night" in reverence. This houseplay attitude is the reason vampires call the new hosts "children" and why they describe their alliance and obedience as "serving their bloodline" or "serving their family".
Her second and more intimate driving force is a desire to overcome the restraint placed upon her by Elder Ohari, as he is the only person that could control her. She had to find a loophole around his orders of total obedience and not harming him by leaving hints for her children, nudging them to do everything in their power to make her happy while lamenting about the struggle of living under Ohari's commands, but never explicitly telling them to act against the Elder. Once the old man is killed, she will be truly free to act as she pleases, unrestrained by the inscribed order of obedience.
