Barrier Projection: As an action, you can activate the Aetheric Barrier Generator to project a protective barrier around yourself or a creature you touch. The barrier manifests as a translucent energy field that grants resistance against a specific damage type of your choice (bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder) for 1 minute. Once used, this ability can't be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
Aetheric Overcharge: By expending a charge from the Aetheric Barrier Generator, you can empower the barrier with additional resilience. When you activate the Barrier Projection ability, you can choose to spend an extra charge to grant immunity instead of resistance to the chosen damage type for the duration of the barrier. This heightened protection comes at the cost of increased strain on the device, and it loses 1 charge permanently after being used in this way.
Aetheric Absorption: Once per day, as a reaction when you would take damage from a spell or magical effect, you can expend a charge from the Aetheric Barrier Generator to absorb a portion of the incoming energy. Reduce the damage you take from the triggering effect by 1d6 + your Constitution modifier. This ability can only be used if the Aetheric Barrier Generator has at least 1 charge remaining.
