Magic Deprivation
Written by and bufiogarugi
Actreines have adapted to the magic in Actrein's atmosphere such that they are dependent on it. If they are exposed to a magical deadzone for too long, they can begin suffering negative effects.
It's been discovered that Half-Demons also can suffer from Magic Deprivation, perhaps more intensely since they are more reliant on magic.

Causes
It's like depriving a human of air, except not as quick. They can still breathe, but it isn't the right kind of air.
Symptoms
- Hallucinations
Hallucinations are a common symptom of Magic Deprivation. The sufferers have reported several types of hallucinations - auditory, visual, kinesthetic, etc. - Feelings of starvation This is almost a guaranteed sign of Magic Deprivation. Despite possibly having eaten recently, an Actreine suffering from Magic Deprivation will feel as if they haven't eaten in days or weeks.
- Shortness of breath This is a hallmark of Magic Deprivation. When an Actreine is deprived of magic, they are also being deprived of an essential part of the atmosphere they've adapted to. They are still able to breathe, but it's labored, often filled with wheezing.
- Fatigue This is sort of an extension of the shortness of breath, but Actreines will also find it difficult to move around. At first, it will be minor, but towards the end the afflicted are left pitifully crawling around on the ground due to the intense pain.
- Sensations of burning This goes along with the fatigue, though it is also its own symptom. At first, it will feel like the slight burning sensation after having done an extensive workout, or perhaps like a slight sunburn. However, in advanced stages of Magic Deprivation, it begins to feel like second-degree burns, later feeling more like third-degree burns.
Treatment
An immediate treatment calls for removing the afflicted Actreine from the magic deadzone as soon as possible. If, for whatever reason, that isn't possible, some Actreine doctors have discovered successful results using a medicine made from Mana Stones. This medicine doesn't work nearly as quickly as removing the Actreine from the magic deadzone, but it can be used to keep the Actreine alive in emergency cases.
Prognosis
Magic Deprivation progresses in five main stages.
Stage One
The sufferer will experience mild shortness of breath and mild fatigue. Beyond those, however, there will be almost no noticable symptoms.Stage Two
The sufferer will begin experiencing more extreme fatigue, in addition to more extreme shortness of breath.Stage Three
This is the stage at which hallucinations will begin. The most common hallucination is that of starvation, in which the sufferer will believe that they have begun starving despite potentially eating recently.Stage Four
The sufferer's muscles will begin burning at this stage. In addition, auditory hallucinations will be experienced.Stage Five
At this stage, the sufferer's muscles will begin feeling as if they've gotten second-degree burns or third-degree burns. In addition, they will begin having more severe hallucinations.Prevention
The easiest way for an Actreine to avoid Magic Deprivation is to avoid a magic deadzone.
History
Actreines have been suffering from Magic Deprivation for as long as Actreines have been using magic. As such, the records on who the first sufferer was are almost non-existent.
