Battle of watch fortress Gamma 6

The battle of watch fortress Gamma 6 was one of the greatest and most decisive victories for the federation in the bloodlight wars. It saw Berserker group 666 being annihilated by elements of the cadmeian 88th heavy siege regiment and the 51st cadmeian fusiliers regiment. At the end of the battle the great ice dragon Nix,the great ice dragon alongside a gigantic force of bloodbeasts and dark beasts as well as minotaurs and satyrs managed to decisively defeat berserker group 666 and prevent them from destroying watch fortress Gamma 6

The Conflict

Prelude

The bloodlight wars were the largest massing of traitorous and demonic forces save for the crusade that destroyed the planet cadmeia. It saw quadrillions upon quadrillions of demons trying to overrun the gehennian gate and one of the largest mobilisations of bloodmarines and shadowmarines in recorded history. Watch fortress Gamma 6 controlled a key mountain pass through which larger demonic forces were denied entry into southern sidonia and northern Caledonia. Berserker group 666 took it upon themselves to destroy watch fortress Gamma 6 and advance deeper into the continent of sidonia and destroy the city of kallius.

Deployment

On the morning of 20th November 2940 the demonic soldiers commenced their operation to destroy Gamma 6 by conducting a massive offensive against a heavily defended cadmeian position. To their surprise they found that the fortress was a decoy and suffered extensive losses and many casualties. Furious with their loss the berserkers continued on to the real watch fortress, slaughtering everything in their way. In the meantime the cadmeians has received word that millions of berserkers were on their way and they took extensive preparations to defend the city.

Battlefield

The cadmeians had a huge terrainical advantage during the course of the entire battle. The thick forest meant that not many armored vehicles could be brought into the fray and the mountains provided ample cover for the bloodbeasts and dark beasts to hide and swoop down on the unsuspecting demonic Air Force

Conditions

Due to winter beginning to set in the conditions were bitterly cold . Temperatures could drop down to minus 70 degrees Celsius during the fight and many soldiers, both demonic and to a lesser extent cadmeians froze to death on the battlefield.

The Engagement

During the beginning of the battle the berserkers on the ground were ambushed by bloodbeasts and dark beasts carrying bombs as well as cadmeian infantry with machine gun nests, cadmeian attack helicopters,gunships and even some cadmeian armoured brigades. The cadmeian Air Force consisted almost fully of bloodbeasts and dark beasts, the atmospheric fighters being converted into exoatmospheric fighters and bombers to fight the battle in space against the demonic warships. Initially both the ground and air attacks caught the berserkers by surprise. The cadmeians destroyed a sizeable portion of the airforce including one super heavy bomber and on the ground they managed to kill tens of thousands of berserkers while suffering losses in the higher hundreds. After the element of surprise weared down the cadmeians began to be beaten back despite their ferocity. Tens of thousands of Blood dragons were killed and the cadmeians called a retreat. However just at that time the great ice dragon Nix,the great ice dragon arrived with a gigantic horde of lesser darkbeasts and bloodbeasts and destroyed the demonic Air Force. The minotaurs and the satyrs inflicted heavy losses to the ground force and the minotaurs were famed for destroying dozens of Goliath battlesuit by themselves. Nix managed to destroy the ultra heavy bomber fortress of damnation and the aircraft fell and detonated its payload while on the ground, eliminating almost every one of the berserkers, nix used his psychic energy to conjure a shield to protect the remaining cadmeians. Thus the demons were denied entry into southern sidonia
