The Nasir Dominion
A kingdom that spans the breadth of the south-eastern Abian continent: from both sides of the Riah Channel in the west, which divides the Nasir island from the Abian mainland, to the shores of the Cerulean Expanse in the east.

Structure
Absolute Monarchy. Noble houses own land, but they do not possess the authority to govern unless such powers are granted to them by the king upon a royal appointment. Such priviledges are only rescinded upon the death of the appointed or by decree of the king and are not hereditary. This fuels a meritocracy among the nobility, which is the driving factor behind a longtime culture of competition.
Culture
Nasirian architecture, art, and aesthetics can be compared to Tellus’ ancient Mesopotamian culture. Essentially, Nasir is the analogous Babylon of Adarus. Citizens place an emphasis on literacy and art that cannot be matched anywhere else in the known world, and religion takes a backseat to academia. Homes, state buildings, public facilities, and fortifications are built mostly out of carved limestone and decorated with sculptures of eagle-like birds, depictions of legendary astrals, kings, and soldiers.
Red banners and flags line the main streets of Rytaia, are hung from the embattlements of every fort, the balustrades of every noble’s balcony, and flown at the highest points of cities. Crimson is the best color to express Nasirian pride, representative of the blood shed over a millennium of becoming one of Adarus' greatest human powers.
Names are best described in Tellan terms as being a mix of Persian, Kurdish, and Phoenician in structure. Given names are spoken first, followed by the surname of the house they belong to (or are a ward of, or serve under) in formal circumstances. Familial surnames are reserved for the nobility. The term “dan” separates the given name from the surname of household for official (by blood or marriage) members of the house.
- Example: Daran dan Ashur — Where “Ashur” is the household name, “Daran” is the given name, and “dan” designates him as an official member of the house of Ashur.
- Example: Ren san Ashur — Ren serves Daran in the 9th Legion as the ensign of his pawns, thus Ren is a sworn servant of the house of Ashur.
Demography and Population
Around 9 million Nasirians enjoy relative bliss in a kingdom that has managed to keep foreign invaders from their shores for hundreds of years. Nasir only once suffered an invasion by a hostile nation, but since raising a formidable army, legions of patriotic volunteer citizens have kept Arcanaan at bay beyond the Riah Channel. In turn the long-standing Crimson Legions have also maintained an economy that thrives on conflict.
At last estimate, there are around 5 million chimeras living within the Dominion. Most have carved out simple lives for themselves within city slums or out in the harsh badlands of the desert between the major population centers. Unlike in Arcanaan, they are not enslaved, but many contract themselves into indentured servitude so they might feed their families or at least be provided a comfortable standard of living while in service to wealthy human families.
The Nasir Dominion controls approximately 1 million square kilometers of territory, including the entirety of the Nasir subcontinent and half of the panhandle of the Abian mainland, west of the Riah Channel.
Military
The Crimson Legions are massive military units made up of volunteer citizens and indentured chimeras. There are nine known legions, but only three are ever active at a time. Read more about The Crimson Legions.
Trade & Transport
Rytaia, the capital of Nasir, is a mercantile hub and a perfect location for conducting international trade with the Dominion, boasting the largest yellow glowlite and mithrium mines in the known world. After the the Void Years, ships from other fledgling human nations across the Cerulean Expanse sailed to Rytaia, bringing immense wealth and prosperity.
In their early years (around 1,400 B.A.), the Dominion became a maritime power and built the first human-operated navy. Their ships sailed across the Riah Channel and made landfall on the main continent, bringing trade to the fledgling human kingdoms of Abia.
