Cleric of Silvana

The church of Silvana has always been a central point for most societies of Adatai, and in it the cleric the central figure. They guide the flock as Silvana’s tenants decree, and are the first and only line of defense against the many diseases that emerge from the busy streets of Branos to the wilderness around the world.

After a prospect has proven themselves to a priest they can be inducted as an acolyte if either a patriarch with a special capacity or a bishop accepts them. The acolyte spends upwards of five years studying the good book under a priest. They would assist the priest, who was responsible for their education and training, in any capacity required.   An acolyte would ascend to priesthood once Silvana has embraced them and gifted them her power. This ascension is celebrated with a large feast in most societies. The priest would then travel to their Bishop for further assignment. Normally a Priest would be assigned to a church as their pastor, but some priests would be placed into larger congregations where they would take on other roles such as dedicated healers. This was normally only done for large communities where a single priest could not handle the duties, such as the churches in Branos, to churches with special needs, such as some at the edge of the jungle of Kalimdore, where almost daily a new disease would emerge.   Sometimes certain very specific tasks would be needed to be done. This can be anything from very specific medical care or consoling, to organizational tasks. When a priest takes upon such a task they earn the rank of patriarch, which gives them the authority of a bishop in that specific domain.   Bishops and archbishops are the governing class of the church of Silvana. The archbishops, appointed personally by the high priest, are the leading cleric of a Nation. They appoint the bishops, who are risen from the patriarchs, or in some rare cases, from the priests, to manage a portion of a nation’s churches.   Finally the high priest is chosen, usually by Silvana in a ritual, or by a vote until Silvana choses a new high priest. He is the highest authority in all matters and may order any member of the church. Normally he sets goals for every archbishop, or the bishops in the case of Branos, as it does not have an archbishop.
