The Questions
Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to?
I am creating an anime-centric campaign setting for D&D 5e. I've recently got my nieces into anime. And since I still can't get them to sit down long enough to watch LOTR, I am going to meld an interest I share with them with another interest I hope they will enjoy. This project will be a shonen-flavored magitech fantasy world. High magic. High cuteness. This project is creating that world and blending my own homebrew and game mechanics with other's DnD game mechanics and RAW. I am using books such as Anime 5e and Dungeon Coach's DB Ki Master as guides for additional races and classes, as well as an alternative rules system. And as this setting is inspired by the outrageous universe of shonen anime, I hope that players are able to "break the game" and can eventually bring their characters into Epic levels and beyond.
What world are you working on?
Adazuri is the name of aforementioned shonen-flavored magitech high fantasy world. As with many settings of the genre, the time period may not be analogous with Earth's. So yes, most people still get by on foot or with horses. And yes, many cultures may have some feudal system of rulers. And yes, people aren't spending all their time watching television. But magic infusions trains and airships exist as alternative (i.e. expensive) travel methods. Magic can be used to create communication orbs or handheld crystals which can be used to "Facetime" friends. I'm imagining Fairy Tail, but with less fan service.
Which area of the world(s) are you working on?
I am working on the Westerly Union region, where I hope to start the campaign. More specifically, I want to flesh out Tifwado City and AHA Academy, which is located a short train ride from Tifwado City. I hope to spend time around the main factions and organizations in Tifwado City. And I want to spend time in the religious beliefs and history of the Westerly Union. This region is unique in that during the yet-to-be named 'Devil Wars', the sapient species banded together and pooled resources in order to defeat the devils. This has lead to generations of cross-cultural innovation and advanced magical and technological gains.
How much are you aiming to complete?
Diamond, my Diamond.
I hope to complete all 31 prompts. And since I always write more than necessary, I think a good word goal to accompany this is 15,000 words. In addition to the prompts, my stretch goal includes creating adventure outlines for the first three sessions, which primarily take place at AHA Academy before the students "graduate" and travel to Tiwado City to work for the AHA League as Hero-Adventurers.
When will you write?
I wish to write one hour most weekdays after I go to the gym (20:00 EST) and two hours in the mornings on weekends (8:00 EST). Typically, I can write around 300 words in 15 minutes. And much more than that once I fall into an inspiration mode. Of course, once I fall into inspiration mode, I might end up spending three hours writing. But I also want to be conscious of my sleep, as this is something I accidentally deprive myself of often.
Who is your support network?
I believe during world embers and summer camps, I do well of supporting others writings. And I find a lot of encouragement when people share that support around. I hope to continue that support again during summer camp and beyond. And also follow-up on a continuing support system to encourage new and continued world anvil creators. It was a goal of mine during the new year, but changes in my work made it difficult for me to do much reading and writing these past few months.
Beyond this, I want to use this platform to share with my family -- to get them excited for the campaign as they practice playing D&D with some short-term campaign materiel I put together for them.
Organizing my Worldbuilding
My world is a Tome. And the Flutterblink Family wrote the premier tome. Mrs. Flutterblink, the whimsical headmistress at AHA Academy. Mr. Flutterblink, the stern head of the AHA League. Their adopted tiefling son, one of the greatest pet monster trainers of the century. The three cover all that any young hero-adventurer will need to know to traverse Adazuri.
This is Adazuri. I am currently focusing on Westerly Union. Some notable aspects of this area is that it is one of the most multi-cultural and most technologically advanced regions of Adazuri. Additionally, different levels of representatives from different species groups help govern Westerly Union. This change in government took place after a war against the Devil's. But that's all history leading up to the present. So let's save the juicy bits for the prompts.
This is the map of Tifwado City. I want to focus a lot on the factions and organizations here. Additionally, I want to create one more map before Summer Camp for AHA Academy. #pregoal
And this dear picture, is one of those "only recognizable to me" graphics to explain different planes or "rondures" in Adazuri.
I might do custom CSS . . . I don't have time to focus on CSS. I think I'd rather devote the time to creating more maps and doing artwork for characters and places. I have been practicing my drawing skills. Still not where I want it to be. If I don't feel confident in my art, then most images for this world will be through Hero Forge and Charat (which is manga character specific but still more limited than I would like). Edited through Canva, Adobe, or Procreate. My maps are designed through Inkarnate. Most of my assets are native, expect for some I use from Caeora. I will be adding maps and sketches here as I create them over the month. Until then, just enjoy these here placeholders I made using Charat and Canva.
Landscape Inspiration
I created these images through Artbreeder.

Settlement Template
This is definitely something I want to spend more time working through over the next couple weeks. I'm not entirely happy with this, but I think it helps me decide which areas of settlements I want to focus on the most. Now I just need to play around with the perfect layout.
Should I do it?
Just a list of some of the things I'm thinking about creating for this world:
- Should I create headers for my main article templates?
- Should I create custom CSS so I don't have to go back through articles three months later and redesign them all? I love CSS . . . but it takes me so long.
- Should I draw species examples or should I try to get by with charat.me and piccrew?
- Should I stop thinking and start writing?
- I should!
. . . So I did CSS . . .
These are some super impressive images you've made! Best of luck with summercamp!
Hey thanks! They’re all created using other programs. I enjoy drawing for fun but my skills are still lacking. I am thinking about trying to add some of my own drawings for some articles. Good luck with summer camp!

Aw, don't be so hard on yourself. It's great! Also, I'm so so sorry, I accidentally clicked delete rather than reply on your comment on my pledge. So I'll just respond here, I'm glad you liked my checklist, feel free to steal away!
