Thuriden

Brief Description

  Thuriden, Lord of Stone, is a divine patron of the dwarven race. He and his twin brother, Kurdain, guide and mold their dwarven children by instilling in them the values of honor, tradition, and duty. While Kurdain is more martial in his teachings, Thuriden guides his children in the ways of crafting, knowledge, and order.  

Cause and Duty

  Thuriden has had a great role in guiding the dwarves of Aden in the ways they are most known for today. Be it smithing, enchanting, stonework, or even mining, most dwarves attribute their love and joy to the gifts Thuriden gave to them. His love of knowledge and history have also been passed onto the dwarves, giving them their long memories and well kept histories, as well as their grudges which can both be tracked far back in time. Info about followers While most dwarves pay homage to both Thuriden and his brother Kurdain, those who are considered truly favored by him are smiths, masons, historians, and law keepers. Many clerics of his are in some way a craftsman or lore keeper, passing their knowledge of both their god and their craft onto prospective new acolytes. Though not harsh or cruel, Thuriden is a stern father, but caring father, with many clergy and clerics taking on mannerisms similar to him. While Thuriden does not discriminate against those who follow him, the vast majority of them are dwarves, as the standards and ethics of the god are very suited to their style of life.  

Prayers

  Those that worship Thuriden know that he is a god who does not care for simple lip service, preferring his followers to put action to their requests, aiding the smith who puts effort into his work along with his prayers, then a mason who simply asks for an easy job. Be it a smith wishing to do his best work, or a mason hoping to build strong walls, those that put forth both the effort of their craft and the proper reverence towards Thuriden find themselves emboldened with greater skill and purpose.  

Ending statement

  Thuriden and his brother have always been a part of the dwarves' lives, guiding and shaping them towards strong and dependable people. His children, always thankful for their fathers guidance, they continue ever onward upholding his ideals and traditions.  

Domains

  Thuriden is a god of Crafting and Knowledge, as well as Law and resides firmly in these domains. Be it keeping the know-how of a particular smithing art preserved, the cataloging of an ancient piece of history, or even the maintaining of strict tradition, many dwarves seek his aid in these endeavors. Thuriden Clerics are primarily Forge, Knowledge, and Order.  

Holy Books

  The Dormun-Kar, or “The Book of Order'' is a massive tome of ancient traditions and texts detailing how certain rituals and ceremonies must be upheld and enacted.  

Symbols

  Thuriden’s symbol is that of a large engraved anvil, with an open tome placed behind it, usually made of gold or other precious metals such as silver, mithril, or even adamantine.  

Tenets

  Always hold true to your craft and your clan, in this you can never falter. Never settle for the easy route, as this only leads to faulty work and shoddy craft. Hard work and struggle are always rewarded with great gifts then easy ways and simple paths. The past can always teach the future, thus should be remembered and never left to rot.  

Holidays

  Makers Day is a holiday celebrated by the dwarves every year, where they gather together to show off their works and accomplishments, holding large markets and gatherings to boast and even sell their works to one another. This is also a time when many young dwarves can find apprenticeships with craftsmen, to hone their skills and grow within their communities.
