The Tourceian Pantheon

Structure

Deities play a major role in the religious and practical lives of the people of Tourceia. They are responsible for the way all aspects of the world work. There are four major types of deities within the multiverse, all with varying power levels. Primordials are the most powerful beings in the multiverse. They are followed by the major gods who are less powerful, but still govern major aspects of the universe. Followed by them are the minor gods who are much less powerful, but still not to be trifled with. The lowest classification of deity is demigod, whom are little more than mortals with special abilities.

Primordials

The Primordials are the creators of the multiverse, and as such are the most powerful beings in existence. The eight Primordials hold dominion over the building blocks of the universe, with each Primordial representing one. They created both the planes and the gods, and in the past they have often warred with one another. Although, they seem to be unable to die. Belief only makes them stronger, and even in their weakest forms they are more powerful than the gods. They do not often interact with mortals, preferring to keep to their own planes and creations, leaving some of them unknown to the average humanoid.

Major Gods

The major gods are the second most powerful beings in the multiverse. The hold dominion over more specific aspects of the universe than the Primordials, but they still encompass a large amount of the universe. Normally, the major gods reside within the Material Plane, although some also reside in Karalmir. One notable feature of the major gods is that they generally change forms depending on their worshippers, because belief is integral to their way of life. They do this so that the different races of the Material Plane feel comfortable and represented. A god also has a “common” form which appears more human. This is because Common, the language used by humans, is spoken across most of the Material Plane. The major gods often interact with mortals who worship them, although they try not to involve themselves too much in the world’s problems, except in very specific scenarios.

Minor Gods

The minor gods are the third most powerful beings in the multiverse. They hold dominion over very specific aspects of the universe, but still hold a decent amount of power. Normally, minor gods reside within the Material Plane, although it is feasible to assume that there are some living in the other planes. The minor gods also take on different appearances based on who is worshipping them, much like the major gods. The minor gods interact quite a bit with their followers and have been known to appear to their followers to give guidance.

Demigods

Demigods are the least powerful classification of deity, leaving some wondering if they count as deities at all. They don’t control any aspect of the universe, although they do tend to have special abilities concerning the domain of their divine parent. Demigods almost always reside within the Material Plane, with very few gods ever having relations with the demons in Karalmir (although this can happen, as is the case with some tieflings). Demigods do not have the same appearance shifting power as the rest of the deities, and can only achieve such ends with magic. Even then, they would be unable to be in many places at once, without significant magical assistance. Also unlike the other deities, demigods generally do not have any followers, although they are sometimes recognized as heroes of the continents and immortalized in legend.
