The Ascension of Bhelyia

Qiddona was once the goddess of judgement, justice and punishment. However, when a hero named Ghilia went against her wishes she punished her by causing her to go insane. The ensuing destruction laid waste to an entire country which used to contain a great many followers of other gods and supporters of Ghilia, which gave birth to another god: Thanea the goddess of balance. In order to right this extreme overstepping of her duties by Qiddona, the new goddess Thanea made her presence known to Unthor the god of law and order, beseeching him to exalt an adventurer by the name of Bhelyia to challenge the goddess Qidonna and take over her station and portfolio.   Unthor commanded the god Otarr to fashion legendary items to be used in the battle against the celestial Qiddona that would be powerful enough to kill a god. Thus the Solkyrie and the Vardahn, an ancient legendary spear and shield, were born. The Battle for Justice lasted a great many days but in the end Bhelyia won. Rather than killing the goddess, Bhelyia chose to show her mercy. She cut off her wings and chained her at the bottom of the abyss with the words "As you have chosen to take the law into your own hands, you are heretofore stripped of your rank, no longer bearing a title as the goddess of justice. Let this be a lesson to all those who wish to undermine law and authority."   Bhelyia became the Bringer of Justice after this battle; however, Thanea bestowed upon her a different title as the goddess of battle and strategy. The portfolio was then divided amongst the sun god Unthor and the god of time Epoch . It was decided that mortal beings would be judged after their death and gods would have little direct power over the lives of the humanoids.
