High Cleric
Thira has a large pantheon of deities with temples and shrines all over the country dedicated to them. When the gods cut off direct communication with mortals, they charged the leaders of the temples to work as official messengers of their wishes or to relay prayers/requests/intentions to them.
Qualifications
Training in combat, magic, and administration of the temple. Added benefit if they are naturally gifted with a form of second sight to better communicate with their deity.
Requirements
Must be at least 30 years old, a member of their respective temple for at least 10 years
Appointment
In some orders, the new appointee goes on a kind of retreat to an isolated location for at least a week to commune with the deity of their temple. Upon their return, there is a ceremony where they are officially presented with all o the trappings of their position followed by a feast.
Duties
Exact duties can vary depending on the deity they serve. Some temples focus on charity, preservation of nature, preserving history, aiding the military, even acting as advisors to the monarch and nobility. But, most importantly, they are the messengers of the gods since they do not have direct contact with Mortals from their pocket dimension.
Responsibilities
- Lead their order in ceremonies and rituals
- Communicate with their deity
- Manage the every day goings on of the temple and associated shrines. This may involve travel all over the country.
Accoutrements & Equipment
For ceremonies, the high cleric has special robes. In some orders, they wear an amulet or a piece of jewelry with their deity's symbol. Like a ring or a necklace.
