Lyonos- The Dimension of the Divine
In the southernmost region of Thira, deep in the Gods Wood, there is a mountain. History says that is where the Gods first settled to create the land and the civilization we know. The people below could come to the top and seek audience with the gods personally. This was a great honor to be granted such a visit. Many would travel for weeks or more and then wait to be deemed worthy to deliver an offering or plead their case for assistance. And, the gods were (mostly) happy to help.
But, this quickly became more of a burden than a joy.
The people grew greedy and took these privileges for granted. Over the centuries, there were more and more requests, and eventually demands, for assistance. And fewer and fewer displays of honor and gratitude. Some of the gods became bitter, refusing to see any humans. But, they kept coming.
Finally, one of them came up with a solution. Channeling an immense amount of power, they forged a pocket dimension where the gods could reside without mortal interference. They could hear the prayers of the people but speak to them on their terms.
They built a massive palace made of gold and stardust. Each god had a room. Even if this wasn't their primary residence, like the sea deities or the gods of the underworld. They had a place to come whenever they wished. And, each room was decorated based on their specialty.
For example, Yara, the deity of night and magic, painted their walls black. The ceiling was glass so they could look out at the sky and watch over the stars and movements of the planets. A large cauldron and crystal ball sat in the center of the room so they could experiment with spells and communicate with devotees.
