Tobius Wavesong
Toby is a tall and lean half-elf with long blonde hair. He is the First Mate on the The Twilight Shepherd and is a trusted member of Akrus the Red's inner circle. Toby is as skilled with a blade and a witty barb as he is with his lute. He attended the prestigious bard's college in Waterdeep and lives for the glory and renown to be found as an adventuring bard traveling from port to port.“My dear sir, I believe there has been a misunderstanding” said an overly ostentatious half-elf man rapidly interjecting himself between the harbormaster’s agent and Akrus the Red, Captain of The Twilight Shepherd, “My name is Tobius Wavesong, minstrel of the Court of Elluindel, doubtless you’ve heard of me, and I’ve come all the way from the distant shores of Evermeet to Neverwinter to play for Lord Protector Dagult Neverember himself. These crates your men are harrying here are not part of the ships cargo, I assure you, but are gifts from the King and Queen of Evermeet for Lord Neverember’s eyes only, furthermore it is my diplomatic duty to see them delivered to him personally and unmolested.”The Harbormaster’s agent shot Captain Akrus a quizzical look, but found the stalwart tiefling to be inexplicably missing from the dock entirely. “’Is’at right?” he said, looking back at Toby under arched brows, clearly unconvinced.“Of course it is, my good man, in fact, I have all of the paperwork confirming everything right here,” said Toby, passing the man an envelope stuffed with gold coins.“Ah, why didn’t you say so sooner, Lord Wavesong?” the man replied brightly while he tucked the envelope away into his dirty green waistcoat. “Everything seems to be in order here, we’ll just be on our way, then, won’t we?” he said as he tapped a finger to his nose and waddled off down the pier with a wink, gathering up his men as he went. With that, Toby, whistling a smug tune to himself, meandered his way up the gangway back onto the decks of the Shepherd. As he passed Captain Akrus, leaning against the starboard rail, he made the same gesture the harbor agent had done, complete with an exaggerated wink, except with the finger up his nose. “We’ll just be on our way, then won’t we?” Toby said in mocking tones. “No please, stay for tea, you thick-headed lout”Akrus couldn’t help but chuckle as he uncrossed his arms and made to help the men unload the rest of the rare silks packed in plain boxes without shipping labels.“No need to thank me” said Toby waving a hand behind him and disappearing into the hold to grab his gear.
