Winnie Diggle
"What do you make of it?" Archilas the big half-orc gunner said to the halfling girl perched on the portside rail of the Shepherd. She was small and wiry, but surefooted as she balanced along the beam and stared out into the sea. Her long, red bridgecoat billowed in the ocean breeze as she moved up and down the rail switching her eyepatch from left to right to get a better view.Winnie Diggle is the cannoneer aboard The Twilight Shepherd. She is a bright, supportive halfling woman with an outsized sense of humor and a lust for battle. Winnie is well liked by the crew and worshipped by the goblin powder monkey, Stixl.
"Hard to tell," she said, "we're still a mile out, but it's definitely a wreck."
"Get down to the cannon deck and drag Stixl out of whatever hole he's in, I've been waiting to try out these new guns we got in Waterdeep"
"Belay that order, Winnie" Captain Akrus called down from the aftcastle. "We're going around."
"You're no fun!" teased Winnie, hopping down from the rail, her bridgecoat flying out behind her, revealing a leather harness strapped around the halfling's midsection that brimmed with a variety of daggers.
"Niether is an ambush," said Akrus, "which is exactly what that looks like"
"Aye Captain" huffed Winnie, resting her chin on her crossed forearms atop the railing, as she gazed whistfully out at the shipwreck in the distance, daydreaming about whatever exciting dangers and treasures might have awaited her within the broken hulk.
The Twilight Shepherd gave the wreck a wide berth, continuing on its course, and Winnie wondered if there'd ever be any action on this trip. Maybe that mysterious island the Logbook of Captain Mitchell was leading them to would be full of danger and thrilling adventure! One could only hope.
