05.01.2024 Session Notes
General Summary
Our session continued with the fight against Zombies and slimes in front of the temple of Ilmater which quickly resolved as our heroes finished off the remaining foes. At the end of the fight, a bystander who was impressed with Rhoden gave him a coin with 4 lines and a star in the center which would get him entry to a bar of illrepute named the Four-Corners where his fighting skills would be appreciated.
The rest of the party followed the priestess Una in to the temple, which looked like it had fine nice white marble at one point, but that was now covered in an explosion of blood and gore. Una explained that she had simply been reading from a book of Ilmater using this Translation Rod when something went wrong with the spell. Ravinia and Fritz investigated the book and questioned further, which revealed she had been talking to a voice in her head which she assumed was Ilmater answering her prayers, however this only started once she purchased this book, Volume VI of the Ancient Gods - Ilmater. She received this from a merchant with big red boots, who had a fancy new Shriek ship named the 'Ever Fateful.' It seemed like this book was written as part of a series on the gods, and with a secular view point almost mocking these gods and possibly from the viewpoint of another celesital being. We came to the conclusion the book was likely cursed, and that is why the spell went completely awry, because the results didn't seem to be inline with the Church of Ilmater. Una, as promised gave us a reward of coins out of the donation coffers, as well as the book, which Ravinia kept, and the translation rod which the professor held.
At this point our party celebrated by leveling up.
After the fight, our party deceided to check out the Four-Corners, which led them on a journey to the lower part of the city, checking various doors and abandoned buildings until Rhoden came to one that had a small eye slot, which opened upon knocking, and after revealing his coin they let us enter. The Bar was loud and crowded, with a fight pit in the corner with a large Leonin Named Andale' fighting groups of Thri-keen and bets and wagers going around. We were greeted by Skinny Pete, a large Ogre, who was cleaning kegs like you would a beer glass. He explained how the fighting pit works, and also how the betting works, if you'd like to participate. After exploring the bar, the Professor recognized someone we knew and worked with in the past, Prior Constantin, a rich eccentric human, who had contributed mercenaries and ships to our fight against The Xaraxyian Empire and originially was charmed to join us by Perrit. We decided to celebrate with him our victory over Prince Xeleth and he ordered some expensive wine while we continued to chat with him and catch-up.
