Aurora Arcanium

It is but one week of the year, in the depths of winter, the first week of Jundar. But my what a sight my boy, if you can bear it. It is a beautiful sight, one ten times as beautiful if you can bear the wind and frigid cold to be in Geata-Iarainn or some other high altitude spot in the frigid northern regions of the Durolian continent. The Aurora Arcanium, when the very threads of creation itself are visible, twisting and flaring, dancing and galavanting across the night sky. That is what they see you know? Magisters, those rare few born with Aethyr Sight. That is what they see every day. Can you imagine? The raw beauty of it all, is enough to move one's soul. Even this crusty old man's.

A grandfather weaving tales to their grandchild

Once a year, for the entire first week of the month of Jundar, the night sky of Valerick comes to life with colors and brilliance that most could normally only imagine. Ruby reds flaring and dimming to oranges as they dance and flicker and clash with brilliant sapphire blues, fading and spraying like the sea into sheer diamond brilliance, which casts wild shadows of the purest onyx. Opal bolts tearing across it all, sizzling and burning a topaz hue that cracks and flickers across the scene in the sky, revealing emerald swirls and amethyst shards dancing and spinning about it all. A cacophony of color, of brilliance. No one truly knows why the Aurora Arcanium occurs every year it does like clockwork, though there are many theories, myths and downright wild ideas.

What is well known, however, is that this is actually normal. It is not normally visible, but to hear Magisters tell it, this sort of behavior, this stark and raw primordial beauty is life itself. Is the flow of the world. This is what they see with their Aethyr Sight, piercing the veil daily and drinking it all in. Because of that fact, what is also known for certain is that for this to occur every year in that first week of Jundar, very clearly the Aether must weaken substantially for that seven day period.

Why? No one truly knows. Perhaps it is astronomical, perhaps seasonal. Perhaps the Aether itself, like the primordial energies, or Manna, is oft described, perhaps the Aether has its own sort of primal intellect and for reasons all its own, chooses to let all see through the curtain for that brief window of time. Whatever the reason, it is an event well loved and enjoyed by the peoples of Valerick every year.

I would as well, even in designing, running and playing in games in my homebrew world, I have never played a magister, simply because I can't...fully comprehend the concept I've come up with here. I am no mage lol. Never would be, not who I am as a person. All I can do is dream up brief glimpses of what it may look like in an eyeblink moment, with the help of MJ of course. And thank you :) They are meant to be beautiful to try and visualize, I'm glad it comes across well.
