Old Grimjaw Reference Sheet
Basic Information (Section 1)
Movement Speed: 25 feet, 40 feet flying__Size: Large__
A monstrous visage, a feline body with wings not unlike a draconid erupting from its back, a tail similar to that a of a Wyvern or Drake trailing behind it, though shorter admittedly. His fur coat a tawny orange, yet faded with age. His body showing many scars upon its muscled form, showing clearly his superiority over is realm and region. The fur hiding less in its paling and greying the speckling of scales of a pale almost ghostly transluscent nature as if the creature's clear distant tane genetics were poisoned or somehow diluted to the point of being but a ghost of a suggestion.
Its powerful, whiplash like tail, but robust and with not just four spines as most manticores, but six barbed spines at its end, their points and form not unlike that of porcupine quills, though of a near three foot long persuasion. Most disconcerting and perhaps most terrifying however is the creature's face, its visage.
For the head and ears of a lion are present, yet the mouth, eyes and nose, though proportioned wrong, its jaws capable of opening to the distance of a great hunting cat with teeth to match...the creatures lips, facial shape, cheeks, eyes, and even nose are distinctly of a humanoid persuasion, human or elf-esque.
His bottom jaw, his namesake, misaligned, revealing the tips of his tiger like canines, most of his bottom lip missing, the bottom jaw almost a half inch displaced. Broken once in a fight with an ogre long ago, this jaw gives the beast his name. He roars defiantly, with the confidence borne of many such battles and finding victory in them all. In that roar, you know you are not the first fools to test this beast, to try and collect this bounty or this heroic story to tell. Old Grimjaw finishes his roar, snarling at you "Come then would be Exemplari, whelps unworthy of tale or song, come meet death, for I hunger!!!"

Base Species Traits, Talents, Attacks, and Abilities
- Tough as Nails: Gets its Toughness Boost as an Armor Boost to Armor Score.
- Magick Mutate: Wyrids, all wyrids have some innate sense and resistance to the forces of the arcane. Manticores are no exception, rolling any Defensive Test against an arcane effect or spell at +2
- Scent: +4 on Awareness checks within 60 feet
- Darkvision: 30 feet
- Unnatural Intelligence: Manticores can speak, they naturally can speak fluent Valarian and Feraik without needing skill ranks.
- Tail Spines: Manticores can fling these fearsome weapons like javelins and with surprising accuracy out to a terrifying distance. The strange and mutated biology of this creature effects these spines, this does not hurt the creature to do this, and they will grow entirely new ones to replace any used over the course of a Rest. As such manticores have no qualm or quandry about using this fearsome weapon.
- Extra Spines: Old Grimjaw was born with 6 tail spines, not 4 as is normal.
- Bite Attack: Uses Melee (Brawling) Skill to attack with. Deals 2d8+Power Boost Piercing damage
- Claw Swipe Attack: Uses Melee (Brawling) Skill to attack with. Deals 2d6+Power Boost Slashing damage.
- Spine Sling: 1 action ranged attack, costs 1 use of tail spines. Uses Ranged (Slings) skill to attack with. Deals 1d10+Agility Boost piercing damage. 40/160 foot range brackets.
- Spine Volley: Costs 1 action and 2 uses of Tail Spines. The manticore flings two of its tail spines, choosing to sling one at two different creatures, or both at the same creature. If targeting two different creatures they must be within 20 feet of each other. The manticore rolls both attacks seperately however they only count as one attack for purposes of calculating Multiple Attack Penalty. If flinging both at the same target, it rolls but one attack, and if it hits, it merely deals 1 spine worth of damage, but the second spine then pins the target in place, immobilizing them unless they successfully escape, which requires a TN 21 Athletics or some other appropriate skill check.
- Ventriloquist: At the cost of 2 actions Using a Perform (Acting) skill roll, Old Grimjaw can throw his voice up to 100 feet and has mastered the art of playing a scared child or woman, able to move his voice up the necessary octaves. Its one of the many clever ways he has ambushed would be adventurers trying to invade his territory or lair over the years. He can maintain this performance for up to 1 minute as if it were a spell or power. This is an auditory illusion and requires a TN 14 Sagacity Defensive Test to realize that it is a trick and that someone isn't actually crying out for help.
- Pounce: If a target within 20 feet of Old Grimjaw is unaware of his presence, by spending two actions he can move that 20 feet and make a claw attack and a bite attack against that target. So long as the claw hits, he knocks the target prone and pins them. These two attacks count as one for the purposes of calculating multiple attack penalty.
- Lair Boost: In his lair Old Grimjaw gains +4 to Initiative and Subterfuge rolls as he knows his cavernous den inside and out, better than any creature alive.
- Legendary Presence: 10 foot aura, any creature that starts its turn within it is at a -2 to any Defensive Test or Skill Check. Fades away if he takes 25 wounds worth of damage until he can get time to take a Rest.
- Legendary Defense (Arcane): The first arcane spell that tries to interact with Old Grimjaw simply doesn't seem to do anything or have any effect, the magick seems to roll off his hide entirely. This ability is burned once it is triggered and won't return without a Rest.
- 1 Legendary Action: Old Grimjaw can butt into the initiative 1/round at Initiative 15 or less and take a single action. He cannot interrupt another creature's turn, he simply acts between two creatures turns.
- Take Wing: This is a Reaction Old Grimjaw can choose to trigger after taking damage from a melee attack. With a beat of his powerful wings, he takes to the sky, climbing 15 feet up (or as high as he has room to should he now have 15 feet to work with), and that mighty beat of his wings also buffets anyone directly adjacent to him. They must make a TN 18 Power Defensive Test or be knocked prone.
