The arcane arts come in many forms in Valerick. Those magicks of Sorcerers, Druids and Warlocks/Witches is of its own sort, forbidden and illicit in their own right. The Weavings of the Arcane however, refer to the eight flows of manna that make up the Cycle of Magick. These eight flows of manna actually dictate the types of magick a magister wields. Each is used very differently, requiring different techniques and training to control and master. The eight schools of the Magisterium each wield and train in but one of these arcane arts, and each has its own unique weavings, its own unique spells, which are presented here.
Amethyst Order: The order of Amethyst Magisters, those whom wield the flow of Lobhadh oft refer to how it presents to those with the Second Sight as a deep almost royal purple. Lobhadh is the manna of decay, death, and rebirth, often referred to in the common tongue when teaching apprentices as 'Entropy'. Those skilled in the manipulation of the manna of entropy are very skilled in vanquishing the Restless Dead, as well as stripping bare the Taints of the Void from living things.
Diamond Order: The order of Diamond Magisters, those whom wield the flow of Meanma, get their name from the sheer brilliant and pure almost white light, almost transluscent, hard to see, even with the Second Sight. It is one of the hardest to learn to wield and control. Meanma, meaning 'Soul' or 'Spirit' in more common parlence, these magisters skilled in manipulation of their manna are masters in the arts of healing the ill, poisoned, or otherwise afflicted, and in the most dangerous arts of banishment.
Emerald Order: The order of Emerald Magisters are an odd bunch, those whom wield the flow of Dulra. They draw their name from how the flow of manna they wield appears to those with Aether-Sight, it appears in a brilliant, bright, almost flawless emerald hue, with depth and shading, the sheer vein of Nature. Those skilled in manipulating this manna can exert their influence over plants, animals, take on or gift their allies aspects of either or both for a short time, and can even heal injuries and wounds.
Onyx Order: Those of the Onyx Magisters are perhaps the least well public or understood orders. Wielders of the Manna of Scath, that of Shadow, which appears to those with Aether-Sight as the darkest hue of pure onyx one could imagine. Their arts are not well understood, but what is known is they are masters of misdirection, stealth, subterfuge and subtlety. Their magick is the least obvious, the least detectable.
Opal Order: Those of the Magisters of the Opal, the manipulators of the manna of Aeir, that of Air. This manna appears in the Aether as a shimmering silvery tone, this current alive with energy. Those whom master the art of the Opal current and its weavings, their magicks focus on the stars and sky. They specialize in divining the future, following the threads and flow of time, and embrace the power of storms and wind.
Ruby Order: The Magisters of the Ruby, those whom wield the passion and energy of Doitean, the manna of Fire. They are perhaps the most common and recognized order of the Magisterium. Those whom become war-mages, magisters in military service, perhaps the most common along with those of the Topaz order are those of the Ruby order. They specialize in raw arcane destructive force, the power, passion and energy of fire being unleashed as devastating and powerful arcane weavings.
Sapphire Order: Those Magisters of the Sapphire Order, those whom manipulate and work with the manna flow of Uisce, that of Water. Those of this order, the arts that they learn, the magicks they can wield, are very defensive and enchanting in their nature, matching with the nature of the manna they work with and its ties to all parts of life.
Topaz Order: The Magisters of the Topaz Order, those whom manipulate and work with the manna flow of Domhan, that of Earth. Those of this order, the arts and magick they learn, are of an opposite nature to Doitean, which is why those of the Topaz Order are the next most common amongst war-mages. Their magicks are extremely defensive and heavy in their nature, very creative, constructive.
