Scarlet Shields
The Scarlet Shields1 were the royal guard in Þerakkía, one of the successor states which emerged after the fall of the Paþarían Empire. The name referred not only to their shields, as their helmets, cloaks, trousers and occasionally tunics were painted or dyed red as well, though it's unclear when and why þerakkían warriors began doing so, as blue was the traditional dye of choice for paþarían warriors.
The Scarlet Shields were considered some of the finest warriors in central Adynía at the time, both in terms of fighting skills and equipment, which included enchanted weapons and arms crafted in the city of Mílesis.

Composition
Equipment
While all Scarlet Shields wore red tunics, trousers and cloaks, their equipment was far less uniform, as each warrior had to buy their own armour, helmets, greaves and other equipment aside from their distinct shields. Enchanted equipment was preferred, especially helmets and shields, though scale armour and linothorax were used as well despite lacking such modifications.
Weaponry
Initially armed primarily with spears, swords or daggers, magic staves gradually became the Scarlet Shields' main weapon as they adopted tactics from Rúali mercenaries.
Vehicles
Although most Scarlet Shields owned a horse early in their history (preferably chestnut ones), they eventually became essential for those who wished to join.
