Edolian Wood
The wood from an edolia tree is one of the most sacred crafting materials in elven culture. The edolia tree can only be found in select forests, always magical, and typically have a connection to Silvestris. Because these trees are connected to this outer plane, they are said to be closer to the god of the wilds, Finerdhil. Edolian wood itself is strong and firm, a natural hardwood as the edolia tree loses its leaves in the winter, only to grow back in the spring. It is darker and more durable than other wood, and is typically used in construction of sacred shrines and temples.
Within wood elf culture, edolian wood is sometimes used to craft bows for their archers. However, because the edolia tree is so sacred, it is rarely used for this purpose except for extremely worthy bowmen. Only the trees that are old and near death will be reprocessed into material made for bows or the like, to live on and serve a purpose for the wood elves that have served to protect it for generations.
The edolia tree is one of the largest and longest-living trees in Aecenys, and has magical properties infused into its fibers. This carries on once it becomes timber, as its connection to Silvestris does not end upon the trees death. When used for construction, the magic of the wood can aid the structure in becoming an access point to Silvestris, such as a gate or a way to commune with the other plane. When used for weaponry such as a bow, it becomes enchanted and can carry magical properties and delivering magical damage to its foes.
One of the largest sources of edolian wood can be found at heart of Eryn Sael, a forest which borders the regions of Tusnya and Ostrua. It is said that Eryn Sael was the first forest created by Finerdhil, and once he saw how perfectly it was created, he knew he would have to dedicate an entire plane of existence to try to replicate it. The oldest and tallest edolia trees exist here, and it is rumored entire wood elven towns are constructed of edolian wood, making it an extremely magical place.
