Overview - Races

Ability Score Increases

  When determining your character's ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1.    

Playable Races

  Aasimar - Descendants of celestial beings or infused with heavenly power. Aasimar are mortals who carry a spark of the Upper Planes within their soul.   Bugbear - Neither bugs nor bears, bugbears are the hulking cousins of goblins and hobgoblins, whose roots lie in the Feywilds. They are long of limb and covered in coarse hair. Despite their broad build, bugbears are quiet skulkers.   Centaur - Originating from the Feywild they resonate with the natural world. From the waist up, they resemble elves while their lower body half is the body of a horse.   Changeling - Has ever-changing apperances who can supernaturally adopt any face they like. For some changelings a new face is only a disguise while for others, a new face may reveal an aspect of their soul.   Deep Gnome - or Svirfneblin, are natives of the Underdark and suffused with that subterranean realm's magic. They can supernaturally camouflage and even with magic they're difficult to locate.   Dragonborn - Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the dragonborn were shaped by draconic gods or the dragons themselves. Originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, dragonborn combine the best attributes of dragons and humanoids.   Duergar - Dwarves whose ancestors were transformed by centuries living in the deepest places of the Underdark. They absorbed traces of the realm's magic and were further altered by gruesome experiments of mind flayers and other Aberrations. Even after breaking free from their tormenters, descendants of these dwarves still wield these psionic powers.   Dwarf - Bold and hardy, dwarves are known as skilled warriors, miners, and workers of stone and metal. A commitment to clan and tradition, and a burnng hatred of goblins and orcs unite all dwarves.
  • Hill Dwarf - keen sensed with a deep intuition and remarkable resilience
  • Mountain Dwarf - strong and hardy, accustomed to a difficult life in rugged terrain
  Eladrin - Elves of the Feywild, a realm of perilous beauty and boundless magic. They resonate with emotions captured in the Feywild in the form of seasons.   Elf - Magical people of otherworldly grace, living in the world but not entirely part of it partly because their long lifes of up to 700 years give them a different perspective. Elves love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry, and the good things of the world.
  • High Elf - keen minded and at least a master of the basics of magic
  • Wood Elf - keen sensed and with good intution their fleet feets carry them quickly and stealthily through native forests
  • Dark Elf (Drow) - Decendend from an ealier subrace of elves, the ancestors of modern drows were banished from the surface after siding with the evil goddess Lolth
  Fairy -Feys from the Feywild. Fairies are a wee folk, but not nearly as much so as their pixie and sprite friends. Infused with the magic of the Feywild, most fairies look like small elves with insectile wings.   Firbolg - Distant cousins of giants, suffused with magic of ancient forest. Their deep connection gives dirbolgs the ability to communicate with flora and fauna.   Genasi - Tracing their ancestry to the ginies of the Elemental Planes, each genasi can tap into the power of one of the elements. Air, earth, fire, and water.   Gnome - A gnome's energy and enthusiasm for living shines through every inch of their body. Their tan or brown faces are usually adorned with broad smiles and their bright eyes shine with excitement.
  • Forest Gnome - They have a natural knack for illusion and inherent quickness and stealth
  • Rock Gnome - They have a natural inventivness and hardiness beyond that of other gnomes
  Goblin - A subterranean folk, goblins are commen in the multiverse, often beside their bugbear and hobgoblin kin. They have a supernatural knack for finding the weak spots in foes larger than themselves and for getting out of trouble.   Goliath - Distantly related to giants and infused with the supernatural essence of their ancestors' mountainous home, goliaths stand tall and have a wide array of skin tones resembling different types of stone.   Halfling - is an affable and cheerful folk. They cherish the bonds of family and friendship as well as the comforts of hearth and home, harboring few dreams of gold or glory.   Half-Elf - To humans, half-elves look like elves, and to elves, they look human. Walking in two worlds but truly belonging to neither, half-elves combine what some say are the best qualities of their elf and human parents.   Half-Orc - Half-Orcs' grayish pigmentation, sloping foreheads, jutting jaws, prominent teeth, and towering builds make their orcish heritage plain for all to see.   Harengon - They originated in the Feywild, where they spoke Sylvan and embodied the spirit of freedom and travel. These bipedal rabbitfolk hopped into other worlds, bringing the fey realm's exuberance with them and learning new languages as they went.   Hobgoblin - trace their origins to the acient courts of the Feywild, where they first appeared with their goblin and bugbear kin.   Human - With their penchant for migration and conquest, humans are more physically diverse than other common races. There is no typical human. They have widley varying tastes, morals, and customs in the many different lands where they have settled.   Kalashtar - The kalashtar are a compound race created from the union of humanity and renegade spirits from the plane of dreams – spirits called quori.   Kenku - Feathered folk who resemble ravens, kenku are blessed with keen observation and supernaturally accurate memories.   Satyr - Originating in the Feywild - a realm of pure emotions - satyrs thrive on the energy of merriment. They resemble elves but have goatlike legs, cloven hooves, and ram or goat horns.   Tabaxi - Created by the Cat Lord - a divine being of the Upper Planes - to blend the qualities of humanoids and cats, tabaxi are a varied folk in both attitude and appearance.   Tiefling - are derived from human bloodlines, and in the broadest possible sense, they still look human. However, their infernal heritage has left a clear imprint on their appearance. Tieflings have large horns that take any of a variety of shapes and thick tails.   Tortle - have a saying: "We wear our homes on our backs." These turtle folk most often jouneying up and down coast, along waterways, and across the sea.      

Further Race Options

  Aarakocra -Winged people who originated on the Elemental Plane of Air. Feathers cover their bodies and their heads often resemble those of parrots or eagles.   Githyanki - A lanky people with skin tones of yellows, greens and browns, githyanki complement their physical prowess with psionic might, instilled in them by mind flayers and cultivated over eaons in the Astral Plane.   Githzerai - Githzerai are generally slender, with speckled skin in shades of yellow, green or brown.
