Berbarton, Eccentric Druid Tribe
Most people believe that Berbarton is made up of Druids who were, for one reason or another, kicked out of The Circle. Without their ties to The Circle, much of their diplomatic influence has been removed, and this poor tribe of nature-inclined individuals has become something of a paria. They still make trade with nearby towns, are near the Bloodgold Road, and occasionally see nearby townsfolk come to them for their herbal remedies. But they are really kind of like that weird neighbor down the street. Sure you could ask them for help... But Kopastad is so much nicer...
The town generally has the feel of Druids and similar people who, though well tuned to nature, failed their Druid classes. And it's hard to get a Druidy job without a Druid degree, amiright?
They have several temples in the middle of town, the largest is a temple to Cir of course (if for no reason than to impress Kopastad), but there are several others related to natural deities. Gwynn Moro is a particular favorite in the town, and it is well known that Snatchers who go here are going to have a bad time.
It is actually a rather nice place to live, as long as you are okay with more simple living.
Demographics
Generally nature-focused people. They're like druids but more humble and simple. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but are predominantly Human, as is normal for this area of Softor.
Government
There is a council of elders who make the local laws. They are technically under the rule of Duke Gregory Drake, but for the most part they act independently (just like most of Softor).
Defences
A palisade of Ironwood surrounds the town.
Industry & Trade
Being fairly near the Bloodgold Road, they do a fair amount of trade with the merchants there. Their primary exports are various animal products (pelts, trophies, and whatnot, sometimes meat and bladders for carrying water, etc.) and, what they are more commonly known for: Ironwood (and also other exotic woods).
Guilds and Factions
The council of elders generally gets along as much as any small-town parliament. There's some bickering and arguing and some people definitely don't like each other, but for the most part it is actually a very peaceful town.
The closest things to factions would be the people who want to mesh more with the outside world, but dissention rarely rises above the level of 'peeved".
Architecture
All wood, mostly Ironwood.
