Mírë
Currency of the elves, the Mírë is as much a work of art as it is a currency. While it is used frequently among elven societies, few others use the currency because of its relative complexity.
Gem Denominations
Each denomination of Mírë is crafted from a gemstone or precious metal mined from the mountains at the center of Alaria.Opal
Worth: 1/10th Silver. The lowest denomination of Mírë, trilliants are cut in a rounded triangular shape. In addition to being used as a common go-between for other currencies, opal Mírë are the official currency of Alastia.Silver
Worth: approx. 10 Cirethian Suns. The standard by which other denominations are measured, this currency is most commonly encountered in Alastia.Gold
Worth: 50 Silver Mírë made from gold are rare treasures. They are rarely seen outside of Alaria, banks, and particularly large transactions.Diamond
Worth: 100 Silver Diamond Mírë are prized for their beauty. It is not uncommon for merchants to sell diamond Mírë as treasures in foreign lands for a significant profit.Cuts
In addition to a specific material, each Mírë coin is carefully crafted into a special shape called a Cut. These cuts do not have an innate worth, but instead function as a sort of subdenomination of that particular coin, modifying its worth.Trilliant
Worth: 1/100th standard value. Cut into a rounded, triangular shape, trilliants are by far the most common cut among non-nobles.Sphere
Worth: standard value. Perfectly spherical, these coins are the standard shape for the Mírë.Tear
Worth: 10 times standard value. The standard cut for the Mírë, these coins are shaped into a brilliant teardrop.Royal
Worth: 50 times standard value. What many throughout Aedeva consider to be the ideal cut for diamonds, royal cut Mírë are often kept by treasures by the few non-Alarians who get their hands on them. They are cut in the classical diamond shape, with extra faces to maximize reflectiveness.Rose
Worth: 100 times standard value. Prized for their reflective beauty, rose cut Mírë are the most valuable currency, usually only used by Alarian nobles. They are cut into the shape of a blooming rose.
