Halfling

Halflings are a bit of an oddball when it comes to the races that reside within the world of Aedir. Created by "The Lord of the Underworld" Torinnthe Halflings are known for being short, as well as their Hospitality. They say that there's no better traveling companion than a Halfling, because they are strong, quick as well as reliable. One would say that their reliability is the main archetype of their people, as they are all around the jack-of-all-trades kind of people. Also, a little boon from the Lord of the Underworld, they have a little bit of luck in their affairs too.

Social Structure

Halflings easily fit nicely into any social circle, due to the way they work. They do honest work and that makes them easily assimilate and fit into any social circle that forms within a country. Even within Orcish encampments it is possible to find a Halfling druid or a Halfling healer within an Orcish Encampment, although it's more of a one-sided relationship.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Halflings prefer to live in grasslands and forests, due to their affinity towards the element of Earth. This makes forested and grasslands environment the home of the Halflings. They tend to be farmers and laborers for the other humanoids, as they love to do honest work and enjoy being companions.

History

Much of Halfling history is unknown. Other than their creation by Torinn, most of their history has been wiped from their memory. However, what has been seeded into the Halflings is their intense desire of freedom, not only from political systems but to religions as well. They also feel the intense need to soothe conflict that arises between races in the world of Aedir. They have tried in the past to quell the tensions between the Orcs and the Dwarves, which did not end up working, but it was a valiant effort on their part.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

As stated previously, the Halflings have tried to quell tensions that have spurred between the other Races, except for those conflicts that are deep seeded, like the conflicts between the Dwarves and the Orcs.

Halflings are the halfway point between the stoutness of the Dwarves and the lithe physique of the Gnomes. Their skin is also a bit hardened, pushing that more towards the Dwarvish side.
