The Swampfolk

"A weird folk, as you would expect from a group of people known as The Swampfolk. People who are carefree and don't really want to have duties in life make it right at home in this country of sorts, if you could even call it that."
  • Esarius "The World Archivist"
  • A state of carefree people, and even more carefree government, the Swampfolk, also known as The Tygal Swampfolk. They're a place of strange people; outcasts, criminals, exiles, and even bear tamers call this place home and live in this place. These people go by their wills and their wills only. Cities are sparse in their settlement, and due to the dense size of the swamp, especially in the center, it makes it easy for squatters to live in this land.

    Structure

There is no real title with which the government leader takes. Each town is given a title of Leader, which is also applied to any one within a certain level of influence. This is confusing as the leader of the Swampfolk is also known as Leader, which makes it confusing as to whom they are actually referring too.

    Culture

The culture of the Swampfolk is very strange, as there is a wide variety of people that live here. Criminals, Carnies, Political Exiles, even bear tamers who are more intelligent than the common house pet. The Swampfolk are known as the "Lands of the Everybody", because anyone, despite their creed, background or whatever race they fall under. They are a very laid back and go with the flow kind of people, who only want to ensure that their country survives. However, these people if molded well can rise up to the occasion if need be and be a competent army. The Bear-Tamers of Oldenbucket have managed to do the impossible and selectively breed bears that are so smart they are on par with the intelligence of a dog. This gives the people of the Swampfolk a unique advantage when it comes to fights, as well as the terrain, which makes guerilla warfare the guaranteed style to fight for the Swampfolk.

    Assets

Cities under the control of the Swampfolk:
    1. Oldenville - What would be considered the capital of The Swampfolk if there was a concentrated capital. The biggest city, known as The Land of the Carnies, as many people who live in this city are carnies and performers who were left abandoned by their various circus organizations.
    2. Billbucket - The city of Billbucket, the only other established city of the Swampfolk is known as The Fisher's Capital as the people of Billbucket are hardy adventurers of the sea and attempt to fish the creatures of the Veilnum, no matter their size. The people in Billbucket are also professionals at noodlin', which is a professional passtime within the city. Those who can successfully noodle and subdue the biggest gator in the whole swamp will be dictated Leader for Life of Billbucket for a year.

    History

The history of the formation of the state of The Swampfolk is limited at best. Historians estimate that the Swampfolk created the cities of Oldenville and Billbucket as criminal refugees or the unwanted "trash" of the societies of the Heartoak Confededracy, the Kingdom of Dumont and the Empire of the Pine.
