Esmé Deloffre (de-la-FRAY)

Gedonese aristocrat and widow to Dartanian Deloffre II, she runs House Deloffre and is known as the “Iron Matron.”

History

Born into minor aristocracy as a second daughter of House Dubois, Esmé was a notable catch as a debutante in her early adult years. It came as a surprise in the Gedonese “War of Houses” when she married Dartanian II, whose House Deloffre was already in steep decline and had been for some time.
Eventually bearing four children, Esmé became known for her keen political instincts, which certainly eclipsed those of her well-meaning but ineffective husband. After Dartanian II’s death during the War of the Lion, Esmé took control in all but name.

Personality

Esmé Deloffre quickly earned the moniker “Iron Matron” for her firm and unyielding quest to bring House Deloffre back into the upper echelons of Gedonese politics. She is cunning, manipulative, and without humor. She speaks in the quick, clipped tones of someone who has spent decades getting her way, and isn’t about to stop now.
