The Crimson Queen, Life's Essence

Red Precursor Dragon and one of the five Lords of the Cycle. She governs the primordial building blocks of life itself, and commands the Red Dragonflight.

Organization

Red dragons are the protectors of all living creatures. They are led by the Crimson Queen, the precursor dragon whom all other red dragons can trace their lineage to. While dragon births are rare, it is far more common for dragon couplings to lead to a brood of dragonborn, human-sized offspring with lifespans of about 80 years. Dragonborn are tasked with the protection of their dragon ancestors, and the furtherance of Crimson Queen's directives.

Blood and Family

The noble houses of the Red Dragonflight draw their prestige from how closely their line ties to the Crimson Queen herself. The most powerful of these families is House Sanguinar, which closely guards its blood ties and family honor. Rhalic, one of the strongest red dragons, is the male consort of House Sanguinar. Broods of dragonborn typically consist of thirty to sixty births.
Dragonborn are raised independently of their dragon forbears, usually by elderly dragonborn. The life of a dragonborn is difficult and, due to its dangerous nature, lifespans are short and dying of natural causes is rare.
Dragonborn fill a myriad of roles, from protecting lairs and dragon eggs to working as spies and thieves in the advancement of the Crimson Queen's objectives. The strongest of the red dragonborn are chosen as Broodknights, and are used as frontline soldiers in the Eternal War.
Hatchlings from House Tynos have restorative powers and are trained to become Lifeweavers, who can fight and heal in equal measure. Their consort, the red dragon Hyperion, is the Crimson Queen's closest advisor.

The Eternal War

As wardens to all living creatures, the Red Dragonflight's primary goal is the destruction of the undead. This conflict has been waged for eons, and it is the goal of all red dragons and dragonborn to seek out and destroy the unliving.
