Song of the Agni
A religion originally from the realm of Heremar. An old religion, possibly only second to Drycraeft.
The Song of Agni is a polytheistic religion that centers itself on creation mythology. It's gods are detached, meaning they show little interest in this world and rarely interfere.
The Singers of Agni believe that the pantheon of their gods, called the Chorus of Agni, wove the fabric of time, magic and the world together through a song that continues today.
Mythology & Lore
In a time where there was only the chorus, the Agni sung their song. From it, the notes of all came into being. The Choir of Agni's music bound all things together in a signel sheet, a world of magic and music. From its very melody, live sprang forth.
Seeing what their song had done, the Choir rejoiced for themselves, celebrating the glory of their voices, but vowed not to sing another song of creation, leaving only this world to inherit their song.
Though mostly absent, in the quiet moments of life and prayer, the song of the Agni can still be heard, if one just learns to listen.
In their song, all life finds love and meaning, and when sung back, the faithful might encounter a chorister and beg its intervention.
Tenets of Faith
The most important tenet of the Song of the Agni is that of worship. Despite the seeming absense of the Choir, the repeating of the song throughout creation reveals to believers that the Choir still demand praise and supplication.
Creation is the most evident way that the Choir of Agni reveals itself to its creation so care for that creation is absolutely paramount to faithful worshipers. Because of this, they find common ground with Drycraefters, though they do not see eye to eye on much else, spiritually.
Believing that care for creation is a necessity, Singers of Agni (the faithful) believe that care includes treatment of others. Despite believing that the Song of Agni is the only true faith and therefore viewing others as condemned, their faith demands that they treat all people with dignity and respect.
There is no prosthelitizing or evangelizing as the Singers of Agni believe that only the song itself can reveal the Choir to creation and that those who do not hear the song have not been selected by the Agni for their chorus.
Worship
Worship is heavily music based. The music of the Agni (hymns both ancient and contemporary) are the focus of all worship for the Singers of Angi. Music features in all aspects of worshipful life, including the rites of wedlock, birth, death, funarial, and other important life moments.
Priesthood
Their is no set priesthood for the Singers of the Agni. Rather it is a rotating leadership.
